We had a fantastic day at grand anse beach and can’t wait to come back. Chairs were $10 each. We sat under a tree. There were plenty of bar servers on the beach. The water was warm enough for swimming and not too rough. We took a cab from town $10 per person and the water taxi back $5 per person. I can’t wait to visit Grenada again.

Extremely disappointed. If you want to sit and enjoy some time at the beach you MUST pay $10 US for ONE chair. Guys who sell these chairs obviously stole them in the past from hotels on the beach. They are old & can barely stand. Theses guys have no identifiable company T-shirts. I asked each one and they couldn’t answer. « Don’t try to fool senior ladies guys ! We know a scam when we see one. » They all say they have « best price ». No way will I give $20 US for 2 chairs. When refused, some change their price. « Ok 2 for $15 ». Right !!!!! They take chairs from tourists who have paid & left & rent them again & again & again. They watch. Being in an AIRBNB in Grenada for 1 month, we inquired by talking to local people about this disappointment. They advised us not to pay. They are locals trying to make a quick buck from tourists.
This next part is a bit long but I wanted to express what I felt going to this beach. I felt like a second class tourist and unworthy of benefitting of the comfort of a chair while spending an afternoon at the beach. We are 2 friends renting an AIRBNB for a month. We are encouraging Grenadians and helping with the economy of the country. Getting off the plane we took a taxi. We take the bus frequently to visit different areas of Grenada, we shop for groceries, we tip well when having a meal, we take taxis, we buy from locals all the while participating and helping with the economy of the country. But when we went to Grand Anse Beach ….. wow ! What a rude awakening ! Once again. There is no way that will I give $20 US for 2 chairs to guys who cannot identify which company they work for.
Hotels on Grand Anse beach have 20-30 empty chairs on the beach and we were told disrespectfully and rudely that they are hotel chairs and we have no right using them. We learned that quickly. There is no reason for these security guards to verbally attack two 70+ year old seniors that way. Ask & tell us politely ! Security guards all along Grand Anse Beach have the same attitude. I can understand the hotels wanting to protect their chairs BUT come on !!! Be respectful. I suggest hotels work with AIRBNB owners and come to a certain understanding that would work well for both. AIRBNB owners could have some identifiable card that their guests could present to a security guard at the beach for them to enjoy the comfort of a chair when at the beach. Especially two 70+ yr old seniors. Did the security guards think we would fold the chairs and take off with them in our beach bags? Pick and choose your battles guys! Meant for (security guards). Sometimes can just pretend you didn’t see these old ladies & let them enjoy a day at the beach. 😉
BTW! Beach bottom is uneven & water has sewer smell.
Boats that take scuba divers out park their boats on the best part of the beach.
Boats that take out tourists for other activities also park on the best part of the beach.
Their ropes that drag on the beach are extremely dangerous for everyone.

Love the beach so much we ended up spending 2 days there!! We parked at the lot right next to the spice market. Highly recommend renting lounge chairs from the gentleman in the area right in front of spice market. He was so sweet, literally brought me a shirt and had it with him after I had told him how much I liked it- THEN HE GAVE IT TO ME!! Waters is clear, calm, and wonderful. Beach is clean and food is close. The wraps at the fish pot were outstanding.

Boarded Wilson the Grenadian cab driver’s shuttle/cab for Grande Anse beach. We left the cruise pier 20 minutes after we boarded the cab/shuttle because Wilson was trying to fill up his cab. We bought a round trip fare which was a mistake. it was cheaper $30 instead of $40 for 2 one ways, but it locked us in to return to the pier with Wilson at the specified time. Wilson picked us up as promised at grand anse at 2 then drove 10 min south to pickup other passengers at mariposa beach. We waited in the hot cab 45 minutes for his other fare. we learned later that wilson told the Mariposa passengers that their pickup time would be 3:00 and that he would pickup the grand anse beach goers at 2:00 drop them at the pier and then pickup the Mariposa people at 3:00 obviously that didn’t happen.
Lessons learned:
1) don’t ride with Wilson
2) don’t get suckered into a round trip fare
3) take a smaller cab. stick with cars and minivans not 24 seat shuttles like Wilson’s
Grand Anse Beach was nice. water was the warmest of the cruise. The beach was busy but didn’t seem overly crowded. we were close to the spice market. Two lounges and an umbrella were $30. lounges were clise together but the rows of lounges were well spaced. the beach is large so walking a 100 feet in either direction you could escape the crowd by the spice market. we walked to coconut beach for lunch which was excellent i had the catch of the day Marlin and my wife had fish sticks and a couple of drinks for about $55. however we waited over an hour for our food and the waitress was not very friendly. there were also food vendors at the spice market if you don’t have the time to wait.

Can anyone give me idea on the cost of a taxi from the cruise terminal please? Do they charge per person or per ride?
Steve M
레드카, UK포스팅 727건
A taxi ride from the cruise terminal or airport to Grand Anse beach is around EC$50 or US$25-30. The charge is per car, not per parrenger.
Fares are set by the local government and when cruise ships come in, there is an official despatcher on duty to whom you can turn for advice.
Has the seaweed issue affected Grand Anse? Anything expected over July / August?

When we travelled in April, there was no seaweed. The beach was gorgeous and surprisingly quiet. I recemmend looking up the cruise ship schedule and go to Grand Anse when a ship is NOT in port. It is beautiful. You'll love it.

Would you say to take your snorkel gear? Can't wait to see it!!

Yes!-take your snorkel gear! Grand anse does not have the best snorkeling in relation to other areas of Grenada, but the water is beautifully clear and aqua and it's fun to swim the length of the beach. In front of Savvy's there are artificial reefs to swim to. Then there is the statue park-not grand anse, but you can take a boat there from grand anse. Try snorkeling at Magazine beach-little rougher water but more to see.
Cuál es el costo del water taxi?

Hi Doris,
Not sure of Water Táxi, however, I took an regular taxi with USD 5,00 from the Cruise Port to the beach and took approx. 10ms to get there.
