This was our first time vacationing in Puerto Morelos. I recently had a scuba diving friend that came back from PM not long before we booked. I asked him a bit about the area and of course who he dove with.
He gave me the name of Acquanauts Dive Adventures and gave them a great recommendation.
So I reached out to the shop to find out a bit more. Crescent quickly responded to my email and gave me a summary of what they offer and the various prices.
I have dove with quite a few dive shops in various parts and was immediately impressed with their quick response.
I had planned to dive 2 tanks per day during our vacation however weather had other plans.
I did however get to the Cenotes the first day with William the co-owner. He gave the 3 of us on the dive a great trip and great hospitality. He gave a very detailed dive briefing. They packed us a great light lunch.
Day 2 I dove with Dan. We had 7 of us on the dive. Dan was a great Dive Guide and took us to 2 great dive sites. He gave a great pre dive briefing on the sites and did take good care of us.
The captain of the boat did a great job navigating us out and back in.
Overall I was impressed by the shop and their operation. The boat I was in was well maintained and it appears they run very good dive equipment rentals. I did not use theirs as I always bring my own.
One thing I immediately noticed on the first day I showed up is how they immediately make you feel welcomed.
If anyone is in the Puerto Morelos area I highly recommend that you contact Acquanauts.
When I paid the dive bill prices were exactly as the info provided in the first email.
We are planning to come back in November and will certainly contact them again for my dive needs.

My husband went to the Aquanauts Dive Adventures to get information about a specific dive he wanted to do. I He was given a price by email and told them he would come back when he was able to book and give a date. When he did this they increased the price by 300 pesos but he reminded them of the agreed upon price and the person he had spoke with originally agreed to the original price of 3200 pesos. He booked for two days out for the original price of 3200 at to the specific dive site. On the dive day he walked with all his equipment (20) minutes only to be told as he was unpacking his gear the price was now higher by 600 pesos from the original price. The reason they gave was because the site was far away. Farther away when he booked the dive? He refused to pay their inflated price and walked back to our condo. This business had his email and could have reached out to alter the price but I guess they were lazy and more likely hoping he would cave and pay them what they asked. He would rate it 0 if he could since no service, or communication was provided.

A great family owned dive shop! They are very service oriented, friendly and the dive masters are very experienced. Many kinds of dives are offered, for all skill levels. They also offer certification classes for those that want to learn to dive. This last trip we did reefs, a shipwreck, cenotes and bull sharks. Highly recommended!

Our group of 4 hadn't been diving since COVID. We did a refresher and a two-tank dive. Cresent and her staff were terrific. Excellent communication before and after our dive. The dives were perfect to get us back in the water. We will be back to the area and will definitely dive with Aquanauts again.

First a little context - my wife and I had booked some diving with another operator near our hotel and planned to organise more with them once our initial spend had been used up. Having paid up front for our initial dives - full amount due - we were then told they had boat problems that would require us taking at best an 80 minute round trip by taxi to their other dive centre. Oh and we’d have to cover the additional cost! An apology - no. Alternatives - no. An offer to cover some/all of the extra cost - no.
Whilst we were resigned to this outcome we were determined to find another dive operator (for our remaining dives) who was more customer centric - Aquanauts Dive Adventures was our choice.
Crescent who owns the family run business was super helpful with numerous different options and although a little more expensive this was always about getting the most from our diving.
The initial booking was done online with only a nominal $25 per diver/per day deposit due. We settled the remainder by credit card each day we dived - I think Crescent prefers US$ cash so maybe think about bringing some instead/as well.
Initially a cenote trip was booked with Willy leading the dive - he drove to both sites and passed the time with good conversation and safe driving.
We then did some ocean diving to a purposefully sunk wreck as well as reefs - also good.
The final part of our trip with Aquanauts was a speedboat trip for diving to Cozumel. Again, we could have booked more cheaply and gone by ferry but that would have become an all day affair so having left our hotel at 7:30am we were all done and back shortly after 2pm. Again, well organised and very pleased with the trip.
All of the dives were air supply/NDL dependent - none of the surfacing with half a tank that I have experienced with other operators around the Caribbean!
The boats and other equipment used are good and certainly appear well maintained. We brought our own dive gear but others on the trips used the dive shops which had no problems.
All in all we have learnt a good lesson - use a long-standing/family run operation who have a vested interest in making sure you have a great/safe time. We will avoid the larger operators where the staff don’t have the same desire to help you maximise your vacation time but instead seem to make their problems yours.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this dive operator and will certainly use again on our next trip.

Great family run dive centre.
We love diving on holiday and found Aquanauts Dive Adventures online and decided to check them out after another operator had lots of defective equipment putting me off.
A short walk along the beach from Dreams Jade hotel we were welcomed into the shop for a chat with Crescent who was more than happy to answer my many questions to make sure we choose the right provider with my boxes being ticked so booked a couple days reef diving.
Which paperwork complete and certifications checked we were kitted up with correctly fitting equipment ready to go. Everything (other than fins) were carried to the boat for us and set up so a very chilled start.
Dan was our guide and I can't speak highly enough of him; he settled us onto the boat and gave some introductions along with our briefings, covering a safety brief, his attention to detail was great making it such an easy and relaxed trip.
Time to go with a backwards roll off the boat, all in and ready to go after a weight check. Dan was at hand with extra if anyone was a bit light and we were off into the amazing clear blue waters of a local reef. My partner was struggling to equalise her ears, with Dan keeping an eye on what was happening despite saying we were okay kept a watch to make sure we were and safe. This was great to experience as so many times dive leaders have intervened grabbing hold pulling us about which can be dangerous!
Such a nice pace to look over the reef taking in the view and hundreds of fish, at times a nice current making an easy drift dive.
With regular air checks it was time to end the dive on consumption and not dive time. We were a fairly small group of 6 divers, Dan and a photographer (I think the max number of divers is 10) diving with another group the owner William was guiding and split the group so that those with plenty of air could continue and those low on air could surface with Dan. This was good for us meaning our dives were close to the 60 minutes.
On the surface we would take it in turns to hold the boat line while removing weights, then BCD while they would hand it to other staff on the board meaning it was easy to climb the boat ladder. Once on the boat we were provided a cold bottle of water from the cooler. I have seen some posts complaining about this, my drinks certainly were cold. They were also in a reusable numbered water bottle, meaning I could use the same number so not mixing bottles up while playing a small part in protecting the environment on one use plastics.
Dan would check to make sure everyone was okay and happy with the dive, he was at hand to suggest improvements from kit placement, weighting, resolving issues with masks and it her dive related common poor dive practices.
After a Surface Interval it was time for our second dive, staff had already changed the air cylinders so kit up and go time with another briefing.
In all I had the pleasure of 2 days diving (4 tanks) and after which I booked other days diving to the C56 wreck making 3 days (6 tanks) Crescent was again great accommodating this as it was a very last second enquiry with tanks added to the days boat at the drop of a hat.
A small dive shop but clearly had lot of repeat customers telling me that they were doing something right with their operations.
Thank you again Aquanauts
And another special shout out to Dan

Hi, we’ll be there in Sept & are 2 PADI certified divers with dozens of dives under our belt. What’s the price per person for a 2 tank reef dive? We bring our own mask/fins/snorkel. In addition, “if” we needed transportation to/from Ocean Coral & Turquesa, could you provide & if so, at what price?
Thank you

This would be a better question for the dive shop - I am just a customer. We got a 4-day pkg and brought all of our own gear, so paid less than for just 2 dives. Can’t help on the transport - we were staying at the el cid. What I can help you with is how impressed I was with the safety and professionalism of the dive shop and staff, and the great dives they took us on. I don’t think I can post their website, but you can google ‘aquanauts dive adventures puerto morales’ to find them.

Snorkeling tours take you to the Puerto Morelos National Park reef. The reef is very close, you are only 5 minutes in the boat. The snorkel tour is two hours and takes you to two places along the reef.

Yes, we would be happy to help you in the water with SCUBA for the first time. Discover Scuba is our introduction to scuba diving. This is a half day class and does not give any certification. There is a 20 minute video to watch, equipment review and theory with the instructor, skills practice in the pool and then we go out to the reef to experience diving. We go to depths no deeper than 35 feet. For a one tank dive the cost is $100 US dollars. If you really like the dive you can do a second tank. The cost for a two tank Discover Scuba is $150 US dollars. Full equipment rental, National Park bracelet and drinking water is included. The one tank Discover Scuba takes about 4 hours, normally from 10 am to 2 pm. The two tank Discover Scuba takes about 6 hours, normally from 10 am to 4 pm. Discover Scuba students can continue to dive after the class for a rate of $85 dollars for one tank or $105 for two tanks. The Discover Scuba dive can count towards either the Scuba Diver or Open Water course.
Please send me a email via tripadvisor or via our website. Cheers.

Hola,
I'll be there January 22-29, and would like to do 2 dives mid-week. I have my Padi Advanced Open Water cert., with over 50 dives, but no dives for 4 years. I'm 72, but in good shape (cycling and weights).A 100 lb tank would be nice. A quick refresher and all equipment needed except mask and flippers. I'll be at the Ocean Coral and Marquesa. Do you do hotel pickup? Price?
cheers

Hello and thank you for your questions. Yes, we would be happy to take you diving again. When it comes to your age and health while diving, remember you need to be in good general health when it comes to your respiratory and circulatory systems. Check with your doctor if you have had any major medical issues since your original certification. Since you are a certified diver you do not need to bring a doctors note, but it is your responsibility to be aware of your health risks while diving.
Our refresher class will give you 3 hours of review (theory, equipment and pool session) and then a two tank reef dive. It takes from 9 am to about 4 pm. We provide you with full equipment rental. The cost is $145 US dollars. Our normal tanks are 80 CF aluminum. We can provide you with 100 CF tanks, the cost is $5 dollars more per tank.
I can arrange a van pick up for you. The cost is $30 dollars for the round trip from H10 Ocean Coral & Turquesa. Please contact me with your room number when you check in. The van driver will need it to enter hotel property.
If you have any non divers in your group that would like to try scuba diving, the refresher class and the Discover Scuba class can be done together. The Discover Scuba student is given a bit more information and training than is necessary, but that is never a bad thing.
Of course, all diving is dependent on the weather.
I welcome your thoughts and questions.

There are many hotels, resort and condo/villa rentals close to the dive shop. The first question you need to ask yourself is what level of luxury you want while on vacation.
An excellent source for condo and villa rentals would be Abbey del Sol and Maya Riviera Properties.
If you want local resorts that are close to town and even within walking distance, look at: Grand Residencias, NOW Jade, Marina El Cid, Dreams Riviera Cancun, Excellence Riviera Cancun, NOW Sapphire and H10 Ocean Coral Turquesa. The resorts that are farther out of town and harder to leave are: Secrets Silversands, Azul Beach, Azul Sensitory, Zoetry Paraiso la Bonita and The Royalton. These resorts are much more isolated and cost much more to leave. If you plan on renting a car, then that point is moot.
Lastly, local recommended hotels that are in town include: Posada el Moro (some times called Hotel el Moro), Amar Inn and Casa Caribe. Aquanauts Dive Adventures is located in a nice hotel called Hacienda Morelos. You can get good diving/accommodation deals when you book your package through the dive shop.
Just ask me if you have any questions. Crescent.
