We walked around downtown on our day off of skiing. It's nice with lots of historic buildings. There are a lot of souvenir shops, clothing stores, restaurants, jewelry stores, and art galleries. We were looking around, not out to buy anything so we had a light lunch and window shopped.

Worth the trip if staying in SLC to walk up and down the hill. Quality shops to browse from Patagonia to local mercantiles. Convenient parking garage and a downtown ski lift.

Overpriced, crowded, full of silly and needless trinkets, but some gems buried here and there as well. Somewhere between the $12,000 fur coats and the overpriced polished rocks is a good experience if you roll with it and just enjoy it for what it is. We picked up a pair of jeans for $15, and enjoyed two hours of wondering how many people buy animal skins and furs these days. Park City seems to be the epicenter for the fur and animal skin trade in these parts. “Since 1872,” the sign proudly proclaims. Some good (and overpriced) food and drink along the way, but you probably expected as much, didn’t you? It’s easy to spend 2-4 hours on the Main Street, and a devoted shopper could spend a day or two in the art and jewelry stores. The Pando Store alone looked fascinating if that sort of art is your thing. Something for nearly everyone, but this is not a place to find many bargains.

City was clean safe and walkable. Many Art Work shops some Restaurants and Bars, acouple gift stores, and many clothing establishments.
Was not an area for small children, they would get bored. Nothing for teens either. Adult area unless your going for food only with them.
No free parking, everything was pay. And on a Tuesday night at 8pm they were issuing Tickets.

Beautiful to area just to walk, shop, and stop in different places to eat and drink. It is a beautiful area and I would definitely recommend checking it out!

It really is a pretty little area. There are tons of shops, galleries and restaurants. I wanted to enjoy it more, but the snotty attitude of not only some of the shopkeepers, but also fellow visitors was off putting. I went with money to spend, but really had more than one "Pretty Woman" experience because I wasn't covered in fur and hauling an YSL purse (insert any expensive bag), I was ignored in more than one place. I was dressed in perfectly acceptable garb for the place and season.
I hope shop owners will learn to not judge by a patrons appearance. I would have spent money, but was so dismissed I went a couple shops down and spent money there, instead. Come on Park City, do better.

You can spend hours strolling through shops and galleries in restored historical buildings. The area is clean and colorful, with the mountains as a backdrop. Lots of restaurants with outdoor seating.

What time do most stores and galleries open in the morning?

We arrived on main street about 10:10 in the morning and everything appeared to be open. People were sitting and eating on outdoor patios and people were coming out of retail establishments. My guess is probably at 9:00 for stores and 8:00 for restaurants.

Hi, How late are the shops open in Park City during the week after Labor Day?
Thanks!

The galleries I think close earlier than the restaurants. Galleries close around 6 or 7 pm as far as I recall.

Do they have wheelchair for rental on Main Street?

I've never seen one. closest I know of would be SLC, they may deliver, but you'd have to call and check. Trip advisor doesn't allow web links in the response (tried to leave the link, but it won't let me), but it's Red Rocks Medical Supply.

We are thinking about taking a 3 family vacation to park city. "Kids" from ages 33 to 9. Are there places to stay nearby so the older kids can go to restaurants and bars without getting in a car and the younger kids can have fun stuff to do in the day.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jeanne,
Historic Park City is a quick FREE bus ride away from Park City Mountain & Deer Vally Resort or steps away from some great hiking or snowshoeing (depending on the time of year). You can even take the Town Lift to access Park City Mountain Resort. Any of the lodging properties in the Historic Park City area would be great for your family. Take a look at the Historic Park City Utah website (sorry, I can't include a link due to Trip Advisor rules) for a list. Enjoy!
