W Arslanbob prawie wszystko "kreci się " wokół orzechów. Właśnie zbiory orzechów włoskich są głównym żródłem dochodu większości mieszkańców. Otaczające wioskę lasy orzechowe zajmują ok. 11000 ha. Sezon zbioru orzechów to przełom września i pażdziernika. My byliśmy w połowie września . Niektóre liście na drzewach orzechowych powoli usychały i opadały .Nadchodził sezon zbiorów . Samo spacerowanie po tych lasach nie jest jakąś wielką atrakcją. Spacer po okolicy do wodospadów czy na wzgórze widokowe można jednak połączyć z obejrzeniem orzechowych plantacji . To relaksujące i nie wymagające wysiłku zajęcie . To także sposób na lepsze poznanie okolicy . W sezonie letnim przebywają tu "letnicy" lubiący spacery w cieniu lasów orzechowych . My nie spotkaliśmy przez ponad trzy godziny nikogo . Po powrocie do wioski odwiedziliśmy także małą tłocznię oleju z orzechów aby mieć pełny obraz wykorzystania orzechów przez mieszkańców wioski .

Beautiful forest, nice walk, beautiful views. We had a guide with us, who explained the forest and the "walnut business", but you can easily do it on your own.

From CBT guesthouse to trekking guide ,even vegetable seller ,taxi view tourist as "money tree".Our very first guesthouse"house 4"charged us 200soms per meal for using their kitchen,taxi driver refused to refund the change as he knows that our bus is leaving soon ,we have no time to deal with him.Arslanbob has nothing really special to offer,scenery nothing secular,now with greedy awaiting to rob tourists,a destination not worth to visit .

So all the guide books say to visit. So we did. Not sure why to be honest. Maybe we missed it. The waterfalls were nothing more than you would see in Europe and the walks neither. Bit disappointing to be honest

We visited the walnut grove, this is a nice shady spot, but to be honest, I felt both the big and small waterfalls offered something more and the small waterfall is just as easy to reach.
The trekking in the area is fantastic with great views to snow capped mountains but when amongst the walnut grove you can't really see anything but the trees.

В Ореховых лесах очень красиво! Но ,к сожалению, они вымирают на сегодняшний день площадь леса грецкого ореха составляет всего одну пятую часть от первоначальных объемов .Очень жаль ,что такая красота пропадает . Местные жители пасут там домашних животных,баран,коз, а они съедают кору деревьев и вытаптывают побеги молодых деревьев. Спешите насладиться красотой Ореховой рощи!!

Walnut forest the biggest forest in Kyrgyzstan. Pegas Adventure organised for us hiking and horse riding. The big waterfall is around 4 hours two-way with the last part a bit of a bouldering exercise. I think best time to visit in july and october

On a beaucoup exagéré la beauté et le calme de ce village de montagne !
Il existe très peu de pistes et sentiers de randonnée, les voitures de type soviétique et de nombreux 4 x 4 les envahissent, notamment jusqu’aux cascades, ce qui anéantit le côté nature de cet endroit.
Par ailleurs, à notre grande horreur, une fête foraine et une discothèque y ont été installés pour tout l’été, au bord même de la forêt, et leurs pollutions visuelles et sonores ( sans parler des odeurs écœurantes de barbecue ) sont PERMANENTES, dès 9 du matin et jusque fort tard dans la nuit. Seul point positif: le CBT nous a trouvé un hébergement au calme, loin de ces nuisances insupportables. Nous regrettons vivement d'avoir fait ce long détour pour voir ce spectacle affligeant !

We visited the Walnut Forest on a CBT-organized hike. The walnut forest was where we stopped for a picnic lunch.
The forest is a lovely place. The large trees provide great shade and block any breeze that may be blowing. The atmosphere under the canopy is quiet and serene.
The forest is a short hike outside of the village of Arslanbob. The residents of the village told me that the forest is the largest Walnut forest in the world.
The forest is a great place to stop on your way to the small waterfall. The hike was fairly easy as my 5 year old did it without any problems.

Hello, can anyone advise if there is somewhere interesting to see / stop off for a couple of days between Arslanbob & Bishek? Seems a long journey and wondered if it might be nice to break the journey somewhere?

Hi Heather, there are a number of lakes along the road (if you're travelling by road). Lake Toktogul is that largest one on the way and would be worth a visit.
There is also a national park (biosphere reserve) Sary Chelek. I've heard a few people saying it is worth a visit.
If you're planning to visit Jalalabad, not a lot to do or see there) Uzgen just before it, although smaller, would be more interesting to see.
