海がとてもきれいで、眺めも素晴らしいです。砂浜にはステキなバーがあり、最高の時間を過ごすことが出来ました♪ 笠岡市白石島に古くから伝わる盆踊り・回向（えこう）踊りです。島民の暮らしと密接に結びついており、白石島の文化を代表するものの一つです。
最大の特徴は、一つの口説き（音頭）に合わせて何種類もの踊りを踊る点であり、現在では男踊・女踊・娘踊（月見踊）・笠踊・奴踊・扇踊・二ツ拍子・大師踊・阿亀（おかめ）踊・梵天（ぼんてん）踊・ブラブラ踊・鉄砲踊・真影（まかげ）踊など、都合13種類の踊りが伝わっています。それぞれ衣装や所作が異なった踊りが、一つのリズムに溶け込んで調和を生み出すさまは、動的かつ優雅です。

ビーチも景色も美しい。天候に恵まれれば、ゆったりとした時間を過ごすことができる。対岸の広島、岡山の町並みが見え、航路を船が行き交う様も絵画のよう。このままでいてほしい。そんな島。

真鍋島から岡山へ戻る途中によりました。
海辺は宿やレストランがならんでいますが、冬はほとんど開いていない様子でした。海水浴のシーズンはにぎあうのかもしれません。
荷物を預けられられるロッカーが見つけられませんでした。
トレッキングルートが整備されており、
とても歩きやすかったです。
途中から見える景色も素晴らしく気持ち良かったです。
ハードではないですが岩場ぽいところやロープがついてるところ、大きな岩に登れるところなど、様々な楽しみがありました。

Shiraishi Island is one of the Kasaoka islands. We spent there 3 days at the end of October ad it was one of the highlights of our stay in Japan. Our visit there would be impossible without the help of Amy Chavez. She has been living on the island for more than 20 years. She helped us with arranging an accommodation in Amagiso Ryokan and while on the island she took us to so called new port to watch moon-rising which was unforgettable experience. She even brought us fresh coffee every morning. She has an enormous knowledge about Japan and the island itself.
Amagiso ryokan is really great place to stay, right on the beach. Another place to stay is International Villa which is located a bit inland, on the hill. If one visits island outside main season( like we did) there are no open restaurants but let this not to put you off. There is a well stocked grocery shop where one can buy all sort of food, drinks etc. I would recommend to visit island outside the season as it is unbelievably quiet, relax. Locals are very friendly. Homes,cars bicycles are left unlocked. It is truly different world.
There are some hiking routes on the island with fantastic views over the sea. ]There is also pilgrimage route similar to the one on Shikoku but on smaller scale.
If anyone want to escape the world,people and relax with only sound of waves and birds and in the company of friendly locals, Shiraishi is the place for you.

笠岡の港から船によって２０～４０分。着いた瞬間、なんだかのんびりした島って感覚に。島の方は皆さん優しく、フレンドリーです。風に吹かれながら海水浴ができる海岸まで歩きます。およそ１０分。今夏は豪雨災害の影響をうけ、お客さんが少な目だとか。日射しの逃げ場がほぼ無いです。海の家の「さんちゃん」だけ！？島の人が行くスーパーはありますが、コンビニはありません。ご注意を。

笠岡市からフェリー等で１時間以内の行ける離島・白石島。ヨットで訪ねましたが、人口４５０程の離島で、島民の皆さんもとても親切で良い感じの滞在に為りました。宿泊施設も数軒かあり、ビーチでの夕日が、とても綺麗でした!!

漫才師で有名な北木島や猫島として有名な真鍋島の手前にある島です。
鄙びた街を抜けるとちょっとした登山が楽しめます。
山頂からは島の全体を一望できます。
もちろん、瀬戸内海の多島美も楽しめます。

We spent a nice leisurely time on the island. The weather was perfect and the hospitality was terrific. Visiting in June before the summer crowds was also a pleasant experience as we essentially had the beach to ourselves.
We also spent one night camping on the beach which worked out quite well too. The cost of camping: FREE! That price never disappoints.
The public toilets were clean and showers were also available. Finally, we were lucky enough to have been granted permission to use the Mooo Bar for shade during our visit by local owner and Shiraishi expert, Amy Chavez. All in all, I highly recommend a visit to those who have yet to check Shiraishi out! I am certain we will be back!
