I visited the museum without doing much research, so I was blown away from the start. First of all, the tunnel connecting the reception building to the museum is a gigantic work of art. It slopes gently for about 200m, and the inside is completely silver. You feel a strange sense of elation, as if some unknown world is waiting for you at the end. From the lobby of the museum, you can look out over the vast surrounding forest, and the sunlight brings in a sense of openness. I suddenly noticed an odd-shaped building standing at the foot of a mountain in the distance, and wondered, "What is that?", but I would find out the answer later.
The exhibits collected from all over the world are also impressively rich. The oldest ones are from 3,000 to 2,000 BC, and the newest ones are from the 2nd to 3rd century AD. In other words, there are a row of relics that are thousands of years old. What's even more surprising is how well they are preserved, with no noticeable deterioration or damage that makes you question their authenticity. Even in the British Museum, which I have visited several times in the past, there were few exhibits that were as intact as these. My questions only grew as to who had collected all these artifacts and how.
It took me about two hours to finish looking at all the exhibits at a leisurely pace (about 3,000 steps on my pedometer). As I was feeling a little tired, the last thing that saw me off was a huge 2.5m-tall stone Buddha, also from the late 2nd century AD (about 1,900 years ago). By the time I left the exhibition area, my head was full of questions, so I couldn't resist talking to a staff member near the exit. When I learned the history of this magnificent museum, it finally made sense.
According to the staff member's explanation, the strange-shaped building visible in the distance from the lobby was the headquarters of a religious organization that the museum's founder once represented, and the 2.5m stone Buddha was originally installed at that headquarters as the museum's first collection item (it was later moved to its current location when the museum was built). A museum with such a magnificent building, a world-renowned architect who designed it, and an astounding collection of vast items. As an amateur, it's hard for me to imagine how much money was poured into these things. Apparently the motivation for founding the museum was to "inspire people," and there's no doubt that this aim has been achieved, even if it was funded by religious funds.
It is extremely rare, even on a global scale, for a museum of this scale and level of perfection to bear the name of its founder. Even the great Daisaku Ikeda did not put his own name on the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, which he himself founded. I left the museum with a mixture of great emotion and a sense of disgust.

This is a museum designed by a famous architect I.M Pei who is known as an architect of a glass pyramid of Louvre Museum.
A wide variety of exhibits was displayed, orient to occident and ancient to present, such as a statue of hieroglyph from ancient Egypt to present Japanese Bizen made by a living national treasure.
This vast site was in a mountain surrounded by greenery. It took 7 minutes on foot through a well-maintained promenade from the ticket office to the main building. There was also pick-up by electric car between these buildings.
The buildings seemed to design based on artwork, each room had a special feature. A design philosophy was presented with an object, it was interesting.
I visited there early morning on Sunday, there were more visitors Westerners than Asian. Exhibits were displayed with enough space so I could enjoy appreciate them in silence.

Hello: I am on a tour with Odyssey Tours from Oct 13-23, and want to visit Miho on the afternoon of Oct 22, Sunday. I probably won't have enough time to take public transportation so will arrange a taxi through the One Thousand Hotel in Kyoto. Do I need an advance museum ticket purchase? Thank you. I have missed Miho each time in Japan and I hope to visit this time. Thank you

Come to an adult place but have no connections? I recommend Xizi for dating girls in Tokyo, Japan. Japanese girls provide a full range of S services. If you see someone you like, you can spend cash in Japanese yen. No deposit or remittance is required. No fraud is allowed. You can book hotels and home delivery. Foreigners are accepted. You don’t need to know Japanese. You can make reservations in Chinese. Good news for foreigners TG:cc383 and Line:03828. The first choice for business trips and travel. High-quality delivery tea delivery

Do tickets ever sell out for the Miho Museum. We will be visiting during the beginning of April which I know is busy with lots of people visiting for the cherry blossoms. We don’t want to purchase the tickets online as we have children in our group and you can only buy adult tickets on line. This museum is a priority for us to see in this trip. Thank you.

Who can we contact for a private driver to take us from our hotel in Kyoto to the museum?
Hi Ann
Miho museum is really easy to get to by public transportation:
JR train to Ishiyama and then Teisan bus line straight to Miho.
If you still need a privet driver - any taxi driver will love to help you.

Hi
First double check that the Miho Museum is open before you leave Kyoto. They close at different times during the year and the bus doesn't run when they are closed.
From the JR Kyoto Station take train to JR Ishiyama Station
Board the JR Biwako Line bound for Nagahama or Maibara at Platform No.2 of JR Kyoto Station and get off at JR Ishiyama Station. (It takes about 13 minutes from Kyoto) Both Local [futu] and Special Rapid Service train [shin-kaisoku] are available.
(JR means Japan Railways)
This is an all day trip
From JR Ishiyama Station to the MIHO MUSEUM
Upon exiting the JR Ishiyama Station through the turnstile, please turn right (south) and take the first flight of stairs to your left. These stairs will take you to the Bus Terminal located in the East Square.
At Bus Lane #3, please board Teisan bus No. 150, which will take you to the MIHO MUSEUM. (Teisan is the name of bus company)
It takes about 50 minutes from Ishiyama Station to the Miho Museum. Plan to have lunch at the Miho Museum as it is truly remarkable and made with ingredients from their garden.
