This walk has about the same total ascent as Trolltunga packed in 4 km length. In other words, the trail is very steep. If the beginning of Trolltunga felt very hard for you, I wouldn't recommend this one. However, if you are reasonably fit and up for a real work-out, this hike rewards you with beautiful terrain on the top and amazing views to the glacier.
The very first part goes through a rather boring bush, but the ascent gets a bit more interesting once one reaches the forest. After 2 hours of climbing the trail evens out for a while, followed by an another steep section before the end. There is only one slightly technical bit with a rope, which was easy enough in good weather, but it might get slippery in rain. In general, I wouldn't recommend this hike in rainy weather, as the steep trail will probably be very dangerous if it gets muddy.
Reaching the summit is sure to give you a feeling of accomplishment. The way down is plain tedious and very hard on knees.

We wanted an easy-going hike around Odda, we weren't disappointed.
We went on 1st of May, the weather was absolutely awesome, sunny, no wind, just perfect. However, at the top of the mountain there was still some snow remaining. Actually we stopped few hundred meters before the very end of the hike because the path was completely covered in snow.
Although I think it's not that difficult, bear in mind that it is around 4km with 1200 meters of height difference, so it's quite challenging.

Fantastisk utsikt når du kjem opp. Men veldig tungt. Frå 100 m til 1407 på ca 4 timar. Ikkje å anbefala for utrente

My husband and I did the hike in July together with our kids(20 and 24 years old) and was an amazing experience. There are posibilities to park close to the start area, anywhere on the street or in a special parking area not very big Close to start area. In the first two hours you reach Freimstolen, achieving 900 m over sea level in a short time by crossing a beautiful forest in a very demanding and steep hike but without technical difficulties. The path is signaled with red “Ts” but be careful because there are lateral paths and you should pay attention to not lose the route.
In Freimstolen you can refill water in a couple of streams, after that you need 1-1,5 hours to reach Rossnos by following the red “Ts” signals in a path which have a mix of gentle climbs and some steeper ones, being the last part more demanding but not technically difficult. There are only one part in which you should climb by ropes over a big stone, that was not difficult in sommer but could be risky in wet conditions.
Once on the top you are rewarded with wonderful views over Odda and The Valley, it really worth the effort!!!

So the weather reports didn’t mention there would be storm force winds, just occasional rain...we got to the top after a very long hard climb, be warned, it’s very steep and all we saw was fog, it was too unsafe to go near the edge. THere’s a section with ropes that we didn’t know about, very slippery when wet. Definitely consider your fitness and pack wet weather gear (we did). The clouds cleared on the way down and the view was beautiful but do be warned, this is a hard walk.

Spent 1 morning for getting there, though it was quite enjoyable the path towards the peak, since you go through a dense forest at the beginning, and through a large field inat the last kilometers.
There are some rivers around the way to the top, so do not worry much about the water.
