This company has been around for greater around 15 or so years now. The Walker boys are incredibly knowledgable of their 'country', and most impressive when it comes to the aquatic and non-aquatic life within the Mangrove and Flats System in the area. Their ability to find Mudcrabs and other aquatic animals on the Sand Flats which are commonly covered by sand and other material, is simply mindblowing.
The Walker family are highly respected within their community. Highly recommended.

I have left a review on the cultural tour page, but this is what we did- walk on the beach with Link - hunting crabs. Please see my other review. A fabulous morning, kids had an excellent time hunting crabs- so exciting- and a little scary!

The mangroves and beaches provide a backdrop for learning about the indigenous people of the area, their culture and food ways. Learn how to throw a spear, hunt for mud crabs and for sea creatures. Taste the foods, learn all the different uses of plants, trees and fruits that not only provide sustenance but tell the time and date. Make sure to pack sunscreen and prepare for an amazing couple of hours before heading out to the reef or into Daintree. Incredible, not too be missed.

Must visit with an indigenous guide, absolutely fascinating what they can tell and learn you about nature and how they interact with it (catching fish with spears but also bare-handedly).

We had a lovely couple of hours with Brandon walking the mudflats, looking for crabs and other goodies. Our teens loved the spearfishing lesson. Brandon caught and released a stingray and we found a good amount of cockels, oysters, and other small bites. All but one crab eluded us but we learned so much from Brandon about nature's remedies and the healing powers of various plants and flowers... not to mention enjoying the feast of what we did catch, in his mom's home (with warm home made bread, to boot!) This was a GREAT experience.

We had a wonderful afternoon out on the mudflats and mangroves. We caught a mudcrab which was incredible.
Clambered through the mud to find mussels. And saw other amazing things like the prints of the stingrays.
Then a big cook up of all that we had caught. Including licking green ants.
Such an incredible afternoon. A truly unique moment of learning much about aboriginal cultural life.

Brandon our guide / leader / hunter / gatherer was absolutely brilliant. Filling us with interesting facts every minute along whilst leading us through the shallows and into the mangroves. Who would ever think there was so much to see within a 2km radius? The cultural knowledge he has of his people is invaluable and he passes the info on, so succinctly.. We had loads of fun and got to eat up all that we cooked - it was a big seafood nosh-up all thrown in for the price. Brilliant walk, brilliant value, brilliant fun.

What a unique experience. Great local guide. Delicious crabs!!! Saw lots of local kids also out crabbing. Also enjoyed the guides multitude of interesting natural items! And lemony ants...

What's not to love of a beach walk holding a spear. Our 7 year old rated this better than the reef trip! 11 year old caught a mud crab, we all picked mussels off the mangroves which when cooked up were tasty. The fresh water mussels were very big. Our family really enjoyed the walk with Brandon, and felt lucky to visit their home where they cook up the food. An indigenous tour that is more practical on food and fauna, not on the dreamtime. Recommended.

amazing excursion on the mangroves and beach. kids still talk about all the crabs we caught! Also saw pufferfish and stingrays! Brandon was incredibly knowledgeable and energetic with a great sense of humor! Wonderful excursion!
