Visited Sahastradhara with family, it was an amazing experience. We visited on a Sunday. Road is good. There not much crowd hence it was peaceful. Sahastradhara means Hundreds of streams. Water flowing from streams was pure and full of sulphur. Enjoyed the sky bus ride. Worth visiting place.

The river Sahastradhara, happens to be good once upon a time about 10-15 years back, the water was clean but now is badly maintained, lot of filth around no proper access to reach down river, you have to pass thru the Dhabas, built around. We visited on 26th Aug 2023, the water flow was heavy and was bit risky to take a plung / bath.

Unless you have nothing better to do during your vacation to Uttarakhand, it would be wise to skip this place. No doubt it might have been beautiful once upon a time, the sight of thousands of people taking a dip in the step waterfall was an eyesore (and risk to public health too). Poorly maintained infrastructure (haphazard parking, too many vendors, too many people, garbage everywhere), restaurants (most of them with very few customers even during lunch time) everywhere.
Its surprising that the local government allows such rampant misuse of such beautiful natural locations.
We took a U-turn, had lunch from a restaurant (I think it was called Yummies), the only good thing was there was a well maintained public restroom opp the restaurant (charges Rs 10 for using the restroom - which should be the case since only then are these public toilets maintained consistently).
Note: some of the pictures shared on other reviews might have been taken early morning. I could not take pictures since that would have meant invasion of privacy of all those who were taking a dip (enjoying?) in the waterfall.

Nice place with the perks of having Sulphur water springs, which are known to be very beneficial. Be careful of the flow of the water as it can be very fast, with a small waterfall. Lots of activities including a ropeway (Rs.200 pp) and an amusement park. Worth a visit and carry change of clothes if planning to dip in the waters

Not so much worth as proclaimed to be, unless one wants to take a thrilling bath under the cold waterfall. But all visitors may not be prepared for stripping to the extent of plunging into the water. Surrounding of this spot is not very impressive, historically there is a white Shivalingum with beautiful trees above and white milky water falling around. If you are on a city site-seeing tour in a taxi cab, nothing wrong in paying a flying visit here.

Sahastradhara is famous for its medicinal & therapeutic value as its water contains sulphur. As a first timer to the town, we visited the place in June’22 despite our cab driver’s reluctance. However, the experience was not good, the place was dirty and commercialized with random constructions. The water flow also seems to be dirty, not sure whether taking a dip would be helpful or harmful to the health. Overall, no regret even if it is missed.

We visited this place on 10 th of September. I remember seeing this place 10 years back. It was beautiful and we could really see the low waterfall cascading over the stones with walking space around. Now I was shocked to see it. Very dirty and commercialized with haphazard construction of shops and changing rooms all around. The place was littered with garbage and plastic pouches and bottles. No police or sanitary staff. 100 rs for parking and 50 rs for entering the place for cars. We even saw people consuming alcohol and smoking hookah on the bank. Worthless. In fact the whole of Dehradun is very dirty with garbage all over and stinking. The authorities should do something soon to save the city.

It's an average place to pass a day with friends or family. 14 kms from Dehradun city it's a popular tourist attraction. It's water is known to have medical and therapeutic value due to sulphur. It's also known as sulphur springs as this water cascades thru limestone stalactities, making it rich in sulphur. The temperature of the water is comparatively higher due to sulphur content. Till here it was best. Further it's crowded and scenic beauty has gone due to excessive construction around it. Bit overhyped and hygiene is the issue. It's good to visit once.

Hi, my trip plan in mid Sep month is as : Mussoorie -> Shehastradhara -> Robbers Cave, guchcu Pani -> Tapkeshwar Temple
1. I am planning to visit Shehastradhara while coming back from Mussoriee, what are cheap modes of transport from mussoorie & duration of journey. How long does it take approx. to cover this place.
2. From there we are planning to go Robbers Cave, guchcu Pani so what are the cheap modes of transport from Sehastradhara & duration of journey. How long does it take approx. to cover this place.
3. From there we are planning to go Tapkeshwar Temple so what are the cheap modes of transport from Guchcu Pani & duration of journey. How long does it take approx. to cover this place.
Is it possible to cover all three places in one day & what time should we start from Mussorie?

greetings ! it takes about half an hour to 45 minutes depending upon the speed and the mode of transport you choose to travel between mussoorie and shehastradhara. mode of transports available are uttrakhand public buses and commercial vehicles such as sedans or suv that are available.
2. though i haven't got a chance to visit robbers cave and ganchu pani tapkeshawar temple, but have heard good reviews from the locals as well as friends. robbers cave is situated at one end of the city whereas shehastradhara is on the other. traffic can consume most of your time. so i would advise you to well your visit well in advance keeping the locations and their distances in mind.
3.mode of transportation could vary. when in dehradun you can proceed to one place to another by ola, uber, etc. To further travel to mussoorie you can hire a commercial car with or without a driver.
you can if you wish to, visit all these places in one day. but it wouldn't me as much fun. shehastradhara alone will take about an hour to two. (lots of chilled water to splash), same with robbers cave and forest research intuition (FRI) . take two days to cover all your desired places.
hope i have answers all your queries. let me know if you still need any help
thank you.

No its not if you want to visit from mussoorie to dehradun then you have to halt at Pared ground is like (delhi metro central secretariat) you have to go there for almost all public transport by bus or vikram.
1. from mussooriee to pared ground via bus then sehastradhara to bus (Route No.2 )only (20 kms ,1+hr duration) seats available everytime .
alternate (via walking ) left your bus at kishanpur chowk near pacific hills then take vikram towards rajpur and left it at saibaba mandir from here take a walk of 3 kms to sahastradhara road then take bus to sahastradhara distance 5 kms.
