We love driving and visiting Lily Lake for about two hours. This is a nice stop along the ride to the Peak to Peak scenic highway and is well worth the visit. The lake is so serene and will just captivate you in. Please put this on your list when you visit RMNP.

Enjoyable quiet and very pleasant visit. I remember visiting decades ago with my dad. Nothing has changed over the years.

This lake at 8940 feet is outside of the Rocky Mountain Park entrance on the eastern side off Hwy 7. The parking lot is small so finding a space may be difficult. It is a scenic alpine lake with a level easy trail around it. We only went a short distance on the lake. I am not sure if you need a timed entry pass here, but we didn't have a problem in the afternoon.

We parked at Lily Lake just in time for the beautiful, pleasant evening sun (at the end of August around 6 p.m.).
The circular path that you can walk around the lake is about 1.5 km long.
A permit is required between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. because the lake is part of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
The path is well developed, completely wheelchair-accessible, mostly flat, very close to the water, and really wonderful to walk. We also stopped at two benches and admired the constantly changing panorama and the play of light and color. The sun was setting very slowly, beautifully.
There were a number of other walkers out and about, but it was still quiet and not overcrowded.

A flat loop leads around the lake with plentiful bird-watching. We also saw a muskrat swimming, collecting grass in its mouth. We were on our way to Wild Basin and I could have stayed longer. Other people were on the trail, but it wasn't crowded (compared to Bear/Dream/Emerald Lake). Bring a hat-the trail is exposed.

This trail is very easy. The loop around the lake was easy and on a smooth path. We were there in the late afternoon and the trail was very busy.

We stopped in to enjoy the walk around the lake at sunset. There were an abundance of people hiking the trail, to include many taking the opportunity to paint the majestic surroundings.

This is an easy walk around the lake and accessible to all. The views are gorgeous. Trails branch off the main path if you choose to take them. Picnic spots are dotted throughout the grounds. Parking in the small lot is limited or across the street. No one was in the booth to check our pass to enter the park when we went.

We did visited this lake trail on our 2nd day in the afternoon. It was after 3 p.m. when we arrived and we did find a spot to park. There wasn't anyone there to look at our park passes so not sure if you need them or not, since this is actually accessed off a public road and not inside the park.
The trail around the lake is flat, however there is Lily Lake Trailhead that takes you up the mountain and gives you amazing views. If you are able, definitely do that.

What is the average amount of time that somebody spends at Lily Lake?
2021년 12월 15일 작성
Depends on what you wish to do actually. You can just walk around the lake, or the side trails, watch salamander in the water, have a picnic or just ta take a picture etc.. from 5 minutes to 1 hour.

You do not pass through an RMNP entrance station to get to Lily Lake. However, Lily Lake is inside the boundaries of RMNP. To quote the RMNP rangers in a press release, "Plan on visiting areas where fees are required but not collected such as Lily Lake, Longs Peak, Lumpy Ridge or the East Inlet Trailhead? Purchase your pass online." So the correct and official answer is that Lily Lake is NOT free.

I would say no to both of these, the lakes not that big and I would say as a diver not one I would want to dive even if it was allowed which I doubt. As for camping there are lots of place close by to camp just not at the lake itself.
Sorry.

From the official RMNP fishing brochure:
"Float tubes and other non-motorized watercraft are allowed on all lakes except Bear Lake; all vessels are prohibited on Bear Lake. The operation of motorized watercraft is prohibited on all park waters."
Any equipment used in RMNP waters must follow disinfecting guidelines established by the park.

Dogs are not allowed on any trails inside Rocky Mountain National Park. Lily Lake is inside RMNP. There is a no dogs allowed sign at the entrance to the Lily Lake Trail. From the RMNP official website:
Pets are permitted in Rocky Mountain National Park, however they are not permitted on trails or in the backcountry. They are allowed only in areas accessed by vehicles, including roadsides, parking areas, picnic areas and campgrounds. They must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and attended at all times. Pet etiquette dictates always cleaning up after your pet and disposing of waste in trash receptacles.
The nearby Lily Mountain Trail #933 in the national forest does allow dogs. Directions to Lily Mountain Trail from the national forest service website:
Take Colorado Highway 7 south from Estes Park 5.8 miles to the trailhead on the right. There is limited roadside parking. Visitors may also park at the Lily Lake parking lot, ¼ mile to the south, and walk back along the highway to the trail.
