Beautiful Anglo-Catholic high Mass. Setting was Palestrina with Gloria also sung in Latin. Amazing gothic architecture with hugh roof screen. Many statues. Organist also very good. Choir average. Pity the church is in a bad area. Actually one of the most impressive churches I have ever seen

My wife and I went to a normal Sunday service at this church while visiting Birmingham. The format of the service was in the Anglo Catholic tradition with a sung Eucharist. The parishioners were very friendly and from the announcements there is a lively musical tradition and including child friendly workshops. The children read the lessons and there was a drum lesson for families on the Saturday.
Anyone who wants to participate in a traditional service or wants to experience one should attend a service. Don't forget to have a tea and cake after the service which was very good.

This church in Highgate is dedicated to St Alban the martyr. It was built in the late 19th century century and is a little over a hundred and fifty feet tall.
The church is located in Highgate not far from the Birmingham Central Mosque and being away from the city centre is not as often visited by tourists. It is however a pretty red brick church and worth a visit.

I visited here in September for the Heritage Open days, as the normally locked church was open. It was here I re-discovered the Anglo-Catholic movement in its Traditional form. The church is absolutely stunning. Uncompromising Anglo-Catholic with Pearson as architect.
