one of the best places in town for drinks - price wise!! I always make sure I pop in especially if with people not from Edinburgh. The music is always banging and it's so cozy. Staff are nice and nice looking - perfect combo!

I popped in here with a friend before heading off to a gig. It used to be a favourite of ours ‘back in the day’ with its laid back attitude and criminally low drinks prices.
It’s changed a lot since then. There’s still the steamed up window that greets you but inside it’s a lot brighter and funkier. Gone is the dark decor and a lot of the barrels being used as tables.
Also missing is the juke box they used to be up against the back wall, in its place is a hand sanitizer. It’s a sign of the times.
There’s a thumping R n B playlist that blasts out and adds a bit of vibrancy to proceedings.
There’s still some reasonable prices to be found and it’s a place that feels like it’s busy causes it’s quite cramped.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the toilets. In keeping with the minute theme of the bar, they could do with a much needed makeover.
But you don’t come for the toilets. You come for the cheap drinks, bouncing crowd and the atmosphere.

Needlessly nasty doorman, had an amazing meal nearby then fancied a drink, we are couples 50-60 years old, the doorman treated us like lager louts and then deliver directed us towards a bar where a massive fight was taking place, insulting and rude- don’t visit here if you’re English!

Served by Reece and Lewis. We’re so nice and chatty the whole night. Helpful and quick service and dealt with other rude customers extremely well that were making us feel uncomfortable as a group of 4 18/19 year olds. Would definitely come back

Not sure if that is wow in a good or a bad way! Visited late on Saturday evening. It was rotten! Full of teenagers and groups of highly intoxicated older men, very odd! Ladies toilet, was absolutely rancid! Came down to this part following a disappointing evening on royal mile. It certainly had atmosphere and we stayed for 3 drinks, mostly people watching and wondering what on earth we had walked in to. But it was a laugh and as many people have said far cheaper than anywhere else. Not sure I'd go back at that time of night but may be ok earlier.

Bar Salsa isn't everyones cup of tea, especially on a Saturday night when we reach our capacity! We do advertise ourself as Edinburgh's Party Bar but if you liked our drinks you're more than welcome to come back during our quieter times during the week! We promise the toilets are in much better condition then!

My wife and I were in the city for Hogmanay for the first time. We had tickets for the street party but wanted to find somewhere to have a few drinks before we headed over there.
We were very lucky to find this place. We had some delicious cocktails for fantastic prices, the staff were friendly- and we had a nice little chat with a couple who shared their shots with us! All in all a wonderful place to start our evening. Great location too.

I love wee pubs, they always have an absolute amazing atmosphere but I felt this was just a bit too small and overcrowded to really make the most of. The drinks were great and the tunes were good though. I would recommend visiting with a few pals but not too many as it does get very busy
