At first Weymouth seemed a bit less interesting as a village but when we arrived at the picturesque old harbour that all changed. This harbour is a real highlight on the Jurassic Coast!

I absolutely love Weymouth Harbour. We have visited for many years as a family. There is lots to do for all ages and the sights are fantastic. We love the place so much we are buying a place.

If you visit and walk in the sunshine ( yes, Weymouth does get plenty ) you cannot fail to be impressed by the variety of buildings and boats that abound. Generally lots of activity in the summer especially. Well worth a look.

We were so excited to visit Weymouth and it all turned ugly one night when we drove back from Poole.
We were targeted and tailgated just as we entered Weymouth esplanade, we tried to let them pass but they just stuck to our bumper like glue.
When we called the police they were absolutely useless, they weren't going to send anyone out and then the tailgate passed us and stopped in front, hurling abuse at us, with a friend of theirs behind us. It clearly had been planned - it was beyond our comprehension and were bewildered why they wanted a fight with us.
Then I read later that Weymouth has the highest crime than anywhere else in Dorset, it made sense. We wondered why the hotels were cheap, now we know.
I've never in my entire life experienced such violence and deliberate aggression and felt unsafe. I've walked cities at night like Birmingham, Newcastle and Portsmouth too - I've never come across this.
I'll never come back to Weymouth, it's just lawless and unprotected. A hen night / stag night cheap thrill for aggressive self entitled rubbish.

Vor mehr als 20 Jahren war ich schon einmal im Rahmen einer Schulwoche in Weymouth. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich einmal hierher zurückkehren würde. Aber wie heißt es so schön? Man sieht sich immer zweimal im Leben. Was das Städtchen Weymouth angeht, war es auch gut so. Denn meine Erinnerungen an die Küstenstadt in Dorset waren eher eintönig. Als wir im Oktober 2023 im Rahmen unserer Kreuzfahrt in Richtung Weymouth aufbrachen, waren meine Erwartungen daher nicht sonderlich hoch. Umso schöner war es, am Hafen spazieren zu gehen und all die süßen Häuser und Boote zu beobachten. Klar, war das Städtchen voll, da zeitgleich zwei Kreuzfahrtschiffe im Hafen der Isle of Portland lagen, aber es war trotz des ganzen Trubels entspannt. Mir hat der zweite Besuch in Weymouth super gefallen und wird mir in sehr viel besserer Erinnerung bleiben als der Erste. Wer weiß, vielleicht komme ich auch ein drittes Mal zurück. Schön ist es hier allemal.

Beautiful harbour. Lovely for walking in the day or evening. Lots of nice pubs and places to eat. We went crabbing while at the harbour and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Fun for all ages!

Weymouth harbour is a beautiful location, lots to see and do, safe, although watch out for cars, dog friendly, and a great all around attraction. Clearly the local council have worked hard at improving the ambiance of this area which shows in the buildings, local pride and the feel of the place; thank you.

A beautiful area of Weymouth, easily accessible from the sea front & town centre. Clear water, clean streets. Plenty of places to eat & drink. Boat rides available along and across the river. A lovely walk

Doing a 11 day touring holiday next year thinking of starting off l/regis then planning weymouth before moving on elsewere [yet to be decided]is 3days at weymouth about right

Yes 3 days will be fine - buses go over regularly to the Isle of Portland (run by first bus Dorset) and is a good service - get an all day ticket, I am sure they take credit cards on board
Dorchester is well worth a visit too and has a good bus service or a 1/2 hourly train service run by South Western Railway - Lots of history and is 10-15 minutes on the train and longer by bus

where can i park with a blue badge in weymouth we are by the harbour will be left for 3 days

Are you staying in a B & B by the harbour? If so, it could be that they have residents permits to display in your car windscreen in which case there are zoned areas...hopefully quite close to where you are staying. If not, it may be worth phoning the Council and/or buying a weekly visitors permit but it's worth checking with the Council first.

We've booked a house on the Quay for six adults and a toddler.There's one parking permit but three cars! Any tips on the most economical way to park nearby?

Or better still take 2 cars a little way aw
ay from central areas and give other drivers a lift back. Hope you get parked ok.

where do we park if booked hotel for 4 days mid week break is it council car parks only. don't like the thought of leaving my car in public car park unattended overnight or should we try and find a hotel with private parking.

Parking can be an issue
It's a case of luck finding a pay parking bay or some of bays
1 hour only stay --some are restrictions at different times of day --some permit holders If you have a Blue Badge (disabled drivers) you can park on the permit holders bays
The main car park which I know my friend usually use is just at back of town --- Council owned Pay and Display car park (near RSBP radipole lake )

Hi there
Am looking for a day/or half day return (non-speed/power) boat trip from Weymouth to view Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door for four of us, one with slight mobility issues, but OK with our assistance in early September (10th to be precise) to celebrate a birthday.
We do not mind sharing with others rather than charter individually as it would keep costs down but does anyone have any recommendations/ideas as to cost? We can take a picnic lunch if needs be? Many thanks!
