Weymouth harbour is a beautiful location, lots to see and do, safe, although watch out for cars, dog friendly, and a great all around attraction. Clearly the local council have worked hard at improving the ambiance of this area which shows in the buildings, local pride and the feel of the place; thank you.

A beautiful area of Weymouth, easily accessible from the sea front & town centre. Clear water, clean streets. Plenty of places to eat & drink. Boat rides available along and across the river. A lovely walk

Lovely place to sit and relax and watch boats come in and out. The harbour is surrounded on 2 sides by some lovely bars and restaurants. Lovely place to spend a nice summers evening.

The harbour & beaches are spot on & the harbour at night has a great atmosphere when eating out etc.
The charges for car parking during the day however are very expensive if you want to stay for the day. And we had one night where the large Pavilion car park was shut completely due to a show taking place with no prior warning it was to be shut.

The Festival has missed one key mission: celebration of Dorset's sea food.
After the £10 entry fee one finds vineyard stands, beer stands, face painting, driftwood painting, a chance to learn more about the Royal Navy and Dorset Police, art stalls that display art, some of which actually have a marine theme and the chance to buy oven gloves and wall hangings with fish prints on them.
Oh, and there were five stalls that sold an extremely limited selection of fish and shellfish.
Such a disappointment. We ate seafood in a bar a few hundred metres from the festival and chatted to others who felt the same. This Festival did not showcase Dorset's fantastic marine foodstuffs.

We were staying in the area and we had a walk around here. There are lots of restaurants, pubs, cafes and little shops around. The bridge raises up at certain times which is good to see. The area was relatively clean however there was litter in places which was a shame. There are lot of boats moored up which is nice to see.
Overall this is a good area to visit, it can get very busy with people especially those who do crabbing with the kits you can get from some of the local shops. The buildings are good to look at.

Just love this harbour and have visited many times over the past 35yrs. It is still a lovely place to visit, it’s vibrant with a buzz and a photographers/ artists/ crabbers/kids/sailors dream! However down sides have recently emerged for those staying here. Firstly the quality of food and service at many of the ‘eat in’ establishments has gone down over the years so choose carefully.
Secondly & sadly there is an increase in incidents of anti social behaviour in the area. The local authority need to pay more attention to this and I don’t just mean enforcement it’s deeper than that but I’m sure they know that !

This is a lovely area in Weymouth, just next to the beach, but with a very different vibe. We visited several venues around the harbour during our stay.

hi all
Doing a 11 day touring holiday next year thinking of starting off l/regis then planning weymouth before moving on elsewere [yet to be decided]is 3days at weymouth about right

Yes 3 days will be fine - buses go over regularly to the Isle of Portland (run by first bus Dorset) and is a good service - get an all day ticket, I am sure they take credit cards on board
Dorchester is well worth a visit too and has a good bus service or a 1/2 hourly train service run by South Western Railway - Lots of history and is 10-15 minutes on the train and longer by bus

Are you staying in a B & B by the harbour? If so, it could be that they have residents permits to display in your car windscreen in which case there are zoned areas...hopefully quite close to where you are staying. If not, it may be worth phoning the Council and/or buying a weekly visitors permit but it's worth checking with the Council first.

Parking can be an issue
It's a case of luck finding a pay parking bay or some of bays
1 hour only stay --some are restrictions at different times of day --some permit holders If you have a Blue Badge (disabled drivers) you can park on the permit holders bays
The main car park which I know my friend usually use is just at back of town --- Council owned Pay and Display car park (near RSBP radipole lake )

Hi there
Am looking for a day/or half day return (non-speed/power) boat trip from Weymouth to view Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door for four of us, one with slight mobility issues, but OK with our assistance in early September (10th to be precise) to celebrate a birthday.
We do not mind sharing with others rather than charter individually as it would keep costs down but does anyone have any recommendations/ideas as to cost? We can take a picnic lunch if needs be? Many thanks!
