We were sat after being told we could do a wine tasting. It took 10 minutes of waiting to be seated. The lady said she would be back. After half an hour more we left. There were all of four others in the room and the other hostess paid zero attention to us, no water, no hello. Sterile welcome and not at all what we were expecting after the reviews we’d seen here. It takes 5 minutes to say hello and pour some water.

We were not able to go to the winery, we had prepaid for a visit and unfortunately our flights were cancelled and by the time we arrived we couldn't make the dates we had for the tasting. I contacted the winery immediately when our flights were affected, they were nice and did try to change the date to accommodate us. We tried desperately to get there but kept having travel issues and were ultimately not able to do it because of all the delays. I kept them up to date the entire time as we tried to navigate the unfortunate circumstances, at no time did they indicate that they were not going to refund our payment.
When I returned home I contacted them and asked them to help with a refund and they refused. They said they are nonrefundable tickets and that it was on the form they sent. I checked and the form does not say nonrefundable anywhere on it. Upon further inspection I did find in their original email it is noted, unfortunately in that initial communication they forgot to send the form to fill out. It is my fault that I didn't go back and read that email, but because it was missing the form to fill out I had to request they send the form and a new email was sent to me. It didn't have that on it, and I didn't go back to read the initial.
I am disappointed that such a well appointed winery wouldn't help in these circumstances, we didn't just skip the tasting and had been in communication with them. Additionally if they would have sent the form in the beginning that email wouldn't have gotten lost in the booking process and perhaps we would have seen the nonrefundable. If I'm being honest, it wouldn't have changed anything and we would have booked anyway with them... this review is more to reflect their terrible policy and lack of helpfulness to a very unfortunate experience. I understand the reason to have rules in place, but when a customer is trying to do everything they can and isn't just blowing the reservation off, there should be some help given in this type of circumstance.
I hope as I move through life I help others instead of standing on policies and procedures when they are going through hardship.
You should still go to this winery if you have the chance, but I hope nothing goes wrong because they are unforgiving in their policies.

Beautiful location attached to Montepulciano. Modern and elegant cellar. Suggestive glass floors with exposed barrels. Staff extremely friendly. Sommeliers perfectly informed and at hand. Careful selection of wines to taste. More options are available depending on the number of wines you want to taste. High quality at more than reasonable prices. Highly recommended for couples and groups of friends.

We toured many wineries in Tuscany and this was by far the best, purely because Alessandra was amazing. Her knowledge of the wines and the history of Italy was second the none. We had lots of laughs and lots of conversation. I will be recommending Icario and Alessandra to everyone I know!!

We were in the winery at 11 a.m. to start the tour, as we had pre-agreed with the winery. The tour and the tasting were slightly delayed because the winery's owner was supposedly paying a visit, and the staff was engaged with the owner rather than the visitors.
That delay aside, Serena was very kind to show us around the vineyards and a couple of other visitors in the winery. Alessandra was a jewel! She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with an extensive explanation of the Icario wines and a comparison of tastes, terroir, regions, etc. It was a truly recommendable experience. Having tasted the wines, I noticed that the notable white, pure Trebbianno creation and Vitaroccia (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva) were true highlights. Ask for Alessandra if you are into the wines!

We visited the vineyards and tasted 3 wines. Normally this lasts an hour. We only had 15 minutes of explanations (without visiting the vineyards but only inside the factory) then the remaining 45 minutes was for wine tasting. We are therefore disappointed not to have + visited. The wines are OK but really not great... it's not worth the 45€/person. However, the guide was friendly and attentive.

Beautiful structure in the middle of the wonderful hill.
Although the guide was kind, the guided tour disappointed us a little, a little short compared to many others we have done in the past and therefore not worth the price paid.
The place where the tasting takes place is suggestive, but the wines tasted did not excite us.
Obviously I'm not questioning the company, but the services offered to tourists, a price which in my opinion can be revised downwards.

I've been emailing with the winery to make a reservation for a tour and tasting.
After specifying a day, time and tour, the latest email said:
"As a confirmation policy we kindly ask for advanced payment by bank transfer.... Please find below the details to pay in advance with bank transfer... Payment is not refundable"
Is this normal?
I don't see any indication on the Icario website that payment will be in advance by bank transfer, and none of the reviews or Q&A on Tripadvisor (or other websites that I checked) mention it. No other winery in the area has asked me for anything similar.
I understand wanting an advance payment to prevent no-shows, and would be open to some sort of deposit (ideally paid with a credit card).
But getting surprised by an email that requests an international bank transfer is just such a classic internet scam that I'm hesitant to wire over 110 euro without double-checking this is legitimate.
Can anyone confirm whether this is real?

We just went there & paid for our tasting afterward. It does not sound legit to transfer money ahead of time. We were a fairly large group too - 12 people.
