Wow what a fabulous day of sailing with Micheal and Jo and there deck crew , we couldn't have asked for a better experience sailing on a Volvo racing yacht , will differently be back for another trip on Merrit

So glad you had such a good time! We've had a plot twist: bought a second Volvo 60 called 'Spirit' (formerly V2, Illbruck, Nokia and Spirit of the Maid) and will be starting SOON on Hamilton Island. The Company name has altered to Grand Prix Yachting to reflect the change. We'll have a day trip to Whitehaven from Hamilton Island, as well as corporate match racing and private charters. Let us know when you're back in the Whitsundays - we'd love to see you!

started out with terrible weather but the crew was fun and fantastic. very reasonable price, wonderful crew, and fun experience. much much better than the totally terrible day before with whitsundays cruise to the great barrier reef. Sail with Merit, no big expensive rip-off with that whitsundays cruise thing.

There is no better way to spend a day than sailing amongst the beautiful Whitsunday Islands on board the racing yacht Merit. Get involved as little or as much as you like - hoist the sails, grind the winches, have a turn at the helm or just sit back and enjoy the view. The friendly crew are only too happy to share their love of sailing and show you how it's done. This is a fabulous adventure!

And thank you for taking a day out to come sailing. Was great to see you relaxing on the starboard side as we sailed past Hamilton Island and towards Whitehaven. You did pick a gorgeous day!

What a day, what a boat, what a crew. I had a fantastic day sail on Merit, a Volvo 60 owned and crewed by Michael and Jo.
The boat is very fast, smooth and powerful, the crew is very experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Perfect day sailing, highly recommended !!!

And we loved having you sail with us! We had perfect conditions - coming through Solway Passage to the southern end of Whitehaven was gorgeous!

Me and my two friends went out with merit and we had the best day. The hosts were so friendly. The food was perfect. The snorkelling was unreal (better than cairns), great two spots. And they really looked after me when I got a jellyfish sting ( I stupidly took off my stinger suit and went for a swim in just my bikini 🙈). I would highly recommend these guys to anyone who want an amazing day out at sea.

I booked this trip back in Ireland thinking it would be a nice day out especially for my 13 year old son who loves to snorkel. It went beyond my expectation. Micheal and his crew could not have done more. Morning and afternoon tea and lunch were lovely and the snorkelling was out of this world we Evan got to swim with a Turtle. It has long been a dream of mine to swim at the Great Barrier Reef. Thank you for making this dream come true

It was great to meet you and your son - he's one cool kid who taught me about Gaelic sport before we even reached 'Merit' on the dock! We appreciate you booking to join us, and you are officially our 'furthest away' booking to date, all the way from Ireland. Very glad you had a beautiful time snorkeling the reef and meeting one of our resident turtles. We hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and have a safe trip home.

We loved this day! Sailing was so awesome and the owners of the boat will give you the best day possible! Small group, nice snorkeling, good sailing and a lovely lunch! I would really recommend this trip!

Hey Anouk, it was good sailing ... we love it when the wind comes to the party. The Whitsundays really is one of the best sailing playgrounds anywhere. Glad you enjoyed getting out with the fish, too!

Booked a tour with Merit and had a blast. The crew Micheal, Joe and co. were very down to earth people. You could feel the loved what they did, and we shared it with them as we journeyed along together. Merit has a real sail racing pedigree, so If you're into that definitely give it a try. The crew does encourage passengers to get involved with the sailing process if they want; it's also perfectly fine to sit back and relax as well. No pressure what-so-ever. The opportunity to get to participate is what makes this sailing experience into the Whitsundays special though. Micheal took us to great places for sight seeing and snorkeling while Jo explained many things regarding what we were seeing. Lots of helpful advice and tips.
Despite the weather going bad, *storm approaching*, the crew kept a professional attitude and made it fun all the way back to port. We were served snacks during the process, which I found hilarious. It was super good fun to munch on some yummy delicacies while seeing nature at work.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Merit and its crew. I'm sure you will too if you don't let the minor stuff that can't be controlled ruin it for yourself.
Despite the weather going bad, *storm approaching*, the crew kept a professional attitude and made it fun all the way back to port. We were served snacks during the process, which I found hilarious. It was super good fun to munch on some yummy delicacies while seeing nature at work.

It always is a little hilarious to serve snacks when the boat's heeling over and we're doing 12 knots! A good breeze ahead of the clouds made for a cracking sail back acros the passage. Loved having you out with us.

Me and my wife booked this trip last minute and spoke to Jo who was very accommodating.
What more can I say than BOOK IT! We had a excellent day, the weather in the morning when we left the marina was terrible; rain, dark clouds, stormy, but this didn't stop Michael and Jo keeping things up beat and making sure we had a good time.
There were ten of us on this trip which was perfect, we stopped and two snorkelling locations and saw some incredible fish.
A separate company in the marina hires stinger suits for $10, which are needed from November-May due to the jelly fish.
Even though we had both done snorkelling before in some incredible locations like Fiji this did not disappoint.
Sometimes when on boat trips you get the feeling that it's just a money making machine, but with Merit this was not the case. Jo and Michael genuinely seemed to love what they do and although professional are very relaxed and approachable.
We were fed all day! Breakfast, lunch and a light afternoon snack. The quality of the food was excellent and much better than we expected.

We loved meeting you both and learned a lot from your experiences traveling the planet.You must do that Antarctic trip so we can live vicariously through your adventures! Wishing you both a great time on the rest of your travels through Asia and Africa, and then as you settle down back in the UK.

Very welcoming and enthusiastic crew with great knowlage of the surrounding area. Adapted the route according to todays conditions in order for us to have the best time possible. The reaves at the snorkeling points where beautifull and the crew constantly tried to spot animals for us, for eg turtles. The buffe style food had good variation for both me and my gf who is a vegitarian. The boat it self is worth the visit as it is an oceanic racer with a respectable pedigree. We even raced some other sail boats at the end and got to take an active part if we liked!
Highly recomended!
