The Nightly Wild Dolphin Feeding Experience is is a declared special activity under the Marine Parks Act 2004 and the Resort must provide a controlled setting to protect the welfare of the dolphins and safety of persons participating in the activity. As such this activity is restricted to official guests of the resort on selected packages to ensure we can control the overall numbers and experience. Hi k0sm056, The Dolphin Care Program operates to strict guidelines, therefore restrictions on feeding apply. The number of guests able to feed the dolphins, and the quantity/size/type of fish provisioned is limited, and will depend on weather, season, tidal conditions and dolphin attendance and other closely monitored factors by the Eco Rangers at the Tangalooma Eco Centre. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of the dolphins, as well as all who come to interact with them. Entry is prohibited within the marked 'Special activity area' unless participating in the authorised dolphin feeding activity being conducted by Tangalooma Island Resort, and as such only authorised guests who have a dolphin feeding inclusion in their official day cruise or overnight package. Dolphin feeding within this area is a declared special activity under the Marine Parks Act 2004. Hi taboldan, Tangalooma Island Resort offers a number of Day Cruise options, but you should be careful to read the fine print of inclusions when its sold through third parties. Beware imitators that may use dolphin in the name of their tours to Moreton Island but don't actually guarantee a wild dolphin experience - some are just hoping they spot a dolphin on their cruise. Firstly I would suggest that you clarify the currency that the cruise is quoted in. Theres a big difference between Australian dollars and US dollars, so when comparing apples-to-apples make sure that you are looking in Australian dollars on each site to get the true cost. Secondly - Just be clear that if you are looking at Wild Dolphin Feeding Experience, you should specifically ensure that it states that it includes a Dolphin Feeding experience at Tangalooma Island Resort. Only official guests of Tangalooma Island Resort can legally feed wild dolphins as part of our strictly sanctioned animal encounter. Tangalooma Island Resort also offers a guaranteed Wild 'Dolphin; Viewing package which allows you to stay back and watch the dolphins arrive for the feeding experience at sunset, but it does not allow you to go into the water to feed them. This is about $50 cheaper than the dolphin feeding experience. If you book direct you will get the most information about the actual experience, and have a direct relationship with the actual resort that runs the tours. Sometimes booking through third party sites you miss some of the crucial logistics and this can lead to a poor customer expectations, or missing crucial bits of information to make your visit more purposeful. All in all - I would suggest it comes down to reading the fine print on the inclusions. Check that you have the activity inclusions that you want, lunch inclusions, and bus transfers that you want, and the ferry departure times that you want before you book. There are cruise ships scheduled for the 4th & 7th of Sept 2019, but you can still visit and feed dolphins on these days. You can take pictures but just not have your flash on as it can't shine in the eyes of the dolphin. Our Photographers stand behind the dolphins to ensure they can capture you feeding and not have the flash go in the eyes of the dolphins. When booking on Agoda, you will be automatically allocated a return ferry ticket/time which you pay for on arrival. Check the wording of your bookinmg to see the time of your boat transfers. If you book direct with us we can offer you a choice of times, but sadly Agoda doesn't allow us to list our boat transfer times for you to choose. Thanks

The dolphin feeding is very well organised. Only paid feeders will have access to the beach during feeding with all spectators usually seated on the adjacent jetty. This is a must do activity. Remember to wear your bathers as you will be waist deep in water. Have a great time, I’m sure you’ll both love it.

Most accommodation packages that are booked at the resort include Dolphin feeding - but not all. For example, guests that are staying in private accommodation not managed by the resort do not have Dolphin feeding included, nor do Timeshare bookings, or bookings in Run of House accommodation. From time to time the resort also offers accommodation deals that do not include dolphin feeding. If you are unsure of whether your package includes dolphin feeding you can contact us directly on +61 7 3637 2000 quoting your reservation number, name and checkin date. Alternatively If you booked through a travel agent you can contact them also for clarity.

Hi Katie, Small children can feed the dolphins, they just need to be carried out and fully supervised by an adult. This is conditional on weather of course as (depending on tides) we can have strong waves through the feeding area when we have strong westerly winds.

I haven't, but as a local, I would avoid the Island for a day trip when the cruise ship was in, as it would be much more crowded than normal. You can book direct thru the resort for anything you'd like to do. I'd highly recommend the sand tobogganing and if able, dolphin feeding.
