I used to holiday here as a child and not been back since 1979. Spent a week here, lovely early morning walks on beach and round the harbour with my dog. Considering there are plenty of bins around there is no excuse for people not picking up their dogs poo.

Oggi pomeriggio, dopo un pranzo in un ristorante della cittadina, abbiamo fatto due passi fino al porto, che si trova in una rientranza del mare sull'estuario di un piccolo fiume. In complesso il porto è piuttosto anonimo, non c'è assolutamente niente che richiami l'attenzione, una qualsiasi attrazione. Niente di niente. Gli edifici intorno sono da una parte abbastanza caratteristici inglesi, dall'altra parte abitazioni anonime e moderne.

Lovely visit to see West Bay, very disappointed with public toilets - just boxes and v poor handwashing facilities. Other beach/seaside resorts have decent public toilets but these were 1/10. £4 for an ice cream.

An embarrassment to Britain!

Visited today. A typical British disgrace! Foreign tourists please do not visit. It shows Britain at its worst. Dog mess everywhere, extortionate car parking charges & loos atrocious. Just four portacabins to service ALL visitors with no soap and little paper. Don't waste your time visiting this place!

Stupidly expensive car park.

West Bay Harbour near Bridport, Dorset, UK. Charming little place, no real attraction apart from a stony beach and a harbour for mainly very small local dinghys and the odd inshore fishing vessel. Essentially the place is fairly pointless but busy with many tourists wandering aimlessly about wondering what they were actually doing there.
It is however a very good launch pad for some great walks along the South Coast path, especially if you don't mind steep hills and less often trodden paths once away from the main town. All very well sign posted.
However the car park in West Bay is very expensive. Stupid really as it is the council attempting to wring every last penny out of the poor motorist with extortionate fees. We would have almost certainly stayed far longer had it not been for the pressing need to arrange a second mortgage to pay the exorbitant parking fees. Thus depriving the local traders of our custom. Short sighted greed by the council or what. Will probably not bother to visit this quaint little spot again as a result.

This is a great place to visit. A beautiful harbour and piers . Clean and tidy. Sit on the harbour and enjoy fish and chips. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the views.

Well worth a visit

We ventured to West bay for something different after booking a glamping tent at the holiday park, and I have to say we really enjoyed it. The small harbour town that is West bay is a joy to meander around taking in the local scenes and the like. There are numerous eateries, several pubs and a little courtyard area with several licenced café/ bars to boot. The harbour itself plays host to company offering boat trips of all descriptions and they were very busy on this particular day. The beach itself is a shingle one and the holiday park certainly helps to keep the local scene vibrant.
