So much history

I popped into the centre, which is in an old church. The centre is crammed with so much displays and information about the district, old families. One of the ladies showed me around and it was particularly interesting to hear about the redoubts, old forts, of which there is still one left 2 streets away

Delightful M useum full of local history

This is for anyone wanting to trace their roots back to colonial Pirongia, or Alexandra as it was first called back in the 1800's. The wonderful volunteers want to help you, so go and have a fossick inside. Its a treasure and it's FREE. Great for kids on a rainy day!

To understand the area and the effects it's history has had on it, we visited the Heritage Centre. Amazing local history information and Alan Hall was extremely knowledgeable and interesting to converse with.
