Well paced tour with John, our enthusiastic guide and number one penguin fan. Saw native wildlife in natural habitat, including macaws, wallabies, penguins, koalas, geese, and more. Thanks for the tips, guidance, and memories

Thanks very much for your kind remarks about your Phillip Island Tour with John. I’m sure he will be delighted to receive your feedback and will be justifiably proud of his role in making your day an enjoyable one. It’s absolutely our pleasure to have you along as our guest and we hope we might see you back in Melbourne sometime in the not-too distant future.

Our guide Richard of Aat Kings gave us a great tour of the Maru Animal Park ( if you're interested in seeing the peacock, emu, kangaroo, koala) then the Nobbies where we were given enough time to do the boardwalk. The Phillip Island was very interesting. Ended the night by doing the penguin parade. I was tiring but enjoyable 🤗

There are many travel agencies who run Phillip island Penguin Parade(PP) with price starting from 99 to 209 AUS$ of various attractions. Luckily we can grab budget PP of 61.50AU$. Trip starts at 1.00 PM and returns after 11.00 PM. we started sharp 1.00PM from federation square. Guide come driver on way constantly telling Melbourne , Australia history, geography. First bus took us to Warrook farm where we saw few Kangaroos , koala, other marsupials in cages. After spending around 40 minutes guide took us to Koala conservation Park at Phillip island where few koala slept & few active on trees seen. After spending about 45 minutes guide took us a place of PP, on way we saw small dark kangaroos , few birds. Place of penguin nests was also seen. Finally we reached on PP at dusk time & waited at specially made platform to watch penguins coming from sea to the shore. After sunset slowly penguins group started coming from Ocean but due to dark faint Penguin images noticed. But as penguins march towards nests to feed young one , we saw very closely penguins which looks like parade as they march in groups. Very lovely attraction to see PP which one can notice upto 8.30 PM then slowly we started walking to Bus which left sharp 9.00PM & reached Melbourne after 11.00PM. Guide drops every on at respective hotels. Our guide took care to drop us at 64 wellington street St kilda. PP is memorable trip, one should not miss .

Visited on an organised coach trip with AAT kings coaches . Fantastic experience the penguins came out as we had been told . It was worth going on the viewing platform where we got to see them walk right past us after leaving the sea.
Very privileged to see this and a wonderful memory.

Big Ben must be one of the best guide we’ve ever met! Our family took a day trip to Philip Island with Gray Line Melbourne. Big Ben was the coach driver and guide. He has the most soothing voice and he shared valuable information along the way. He was assuring, approachable and polite.
Little penguin parade has indeed created a lasting memory for us. Go experience it!

This place is too far from city.I visited this place in May where the penguins come from the sea at around 6.30 pm when it really becomes dark and u have hardly visibility to see the penguins .I think it makes no sense travelling to this place which is far away from the city to see the penguins which come in dark and are not visible at all.Waste of time and money both

Seeing the penquins was amazing! They are small in size and as we sat on the right side of the beach bench we saw them better when they gathered in groups before waddling across the beach. Not sure how the view was for those who sat on the left.
From the stands it is not possible to see the Penguin families get united which is why one has to spend only a few minutes on the Beach Stands before returning to the Platform to see the excitement of families re-uniting and the disappointment of young ones who have yet to see their mother.
Observing the penguins was a great experience. Having being briefed by the local tour attendant on what to expect we could see how the penguins regurgitated food to their chicks, identified their offspring and waddled long distances in search of their homes.
The penguins catch the fish, krill or squid, digest it or hold it in for a while. When ready, they regurgitate the food into their beaks and uses their beaks as a kind of spoon to place the food into the baby penguin's mouth.
While photography is not allowed one can take a photo indoors in the gift shop where they impose the penguins well enough to look like a real photo with the penguins.
Considering that so many tourists come here daily to see the wild penguins naturally return home the authorities should probably put up better lights to allow distant visibility.

I am not even sure I have the right event. That's the first point - when it was called the Penguin Parade it was easy to find, but now I am struggling. I am using the title of Penguins Phillip Island, which I hope is the same as Penguin Island Tours. This was my family's third visit, and now sadly our last. We found the whole process frustrating, starting with trying to find the 'right' place to park, then being moved from queue to queue to receive our tickets, even when the description of the queue didn't match the way we had purchased our tickets. Then onto the most frustrating little kiosk-thing where you could get basic eats, without coffee (the machine was 'closed'). The queue was frightening and people became frustrated as we were silently ignored while two women sorted out the food and got themselves organised. This should occur way before the doors open. Then onto the obligatory wait in the next queue to get out into the open to find seating for the night. I hope there is a very good reason for the lengthy wait before the doors are opened to justify the frustration. And especially when you are trying to help little ones stay cool in the very overcrowed conditions. And then the doors open and there is no visible reason for the delay. There is however, one table with a few exhibits, which we couldn't see because of the crush of people. Then onto the seating. Gosh guys - I was frazzled by the end of the night with the 'encouraging' of people to move up, sit here, be on the sides. I understand what you are trying to do, but there must be a better way. In the end, although we were sitting right on the edge and very close to the penguins, our children couldn't see anything, and the adults saw very little. The people who came on the bus tours and who didn't have seats got to see more than we did. They just stood on the pathway at the back of the staged seating and some actually had quite good views. We had the supposed 'good' seats front and side, and we saw very little. We left early and back-tracked up the pathway to try to see the penguins, but many other people had the same idea and by now people were quite poorly behaved making it difficult to help your children see what was happening, and to stay attached to each other. Nope - not again, and definitely not in peak holiday season! I can remember when the centre was still relatively new, and it was an absolute pleasure to move around and see all the exhibits, get your food, go to the loo and then watch the penguin parade. But now it is very unpleasant. My recommendation would be to copy national and international venues that are very good at crowd control, and who understand how to enable people to get maximum value while also continually moving them forward within the flow of traffic. There also needs to be better toilet facilities on the pathway to the seating so that mums and dads can enter the toilet with their little ones. I had to let my two young grandsons into the male toilet on their own, and found this to be very scary.

My husband and I were lucky to visit Phillip Island with Penguin island tour in December 2018. Highly recommend booking in advance as this does sell out, and it’s a really fun experience while in the Melbourne area. We’d like to express a sincere thanks to our guide Kern (sp?) For giving us such a wonderful tour, spending all afternoon into late evening with our group giving us such an awesome and informed tour of the animal sanctuary and then out to the penguin Island. He was so knowledgeable and kind and shared lots of great information with us that were a real highlight to our visit to Melbourne.
For those looking to go on this tour we didn’t realize that even with the half-day leaving in the afternoon it’s about a one hour journey to the animal sanctuary stop for about an hour (really cool to see - not pet - the koalas and feed the wallaby’s), and then you travel another hour down to the island and make some stops on the island (option to helicopter which we HIGHLY recommend!) And then just before sunset you walked down to the beach with all the other many tour groups to get seated and wait for the Penguins to come in once it gets dark and watch them for about an hour. So all in all we didn’t get back until just after midnight and didn’t quite realize what a long day it would be but definitely worth checking out if the Penguins are of interest. And ask for Kern’s tour!!
Big thanks again to you, Kern, for making this tour so cool!!
