I went looking for this bookstore today and after a long search I found it.... It's moved to a new location on William St and it's a fraction of it's earlier size.

if youre a book lover like my fiance and i then this is the perfect place for you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. you can go in there and relax on the sofas they have

Readers Feast is now located in much smaller premises at the William St/Bourke St intersection (south-west corner). It took me a little while to find the shop, and when I did I felt sad: the stock is very much depleted and there were scarcely any customers even though it was a weekday at lunchtime. Readers Feast also maintains a very small shop at the Abbotsford Convent in the inner suburb of Abbotsford. I visited it recently on a weekend and found it offered very little in the way of stock and book-related things. I do hope RF can bounce back.

I was very surprised to find out this store has relocated to St James building, cnr Bourke & William Streets with only a small sign on the pavement to inform customers. As it's new location is still within the free tram zone it doesn't cost to travel to there (or you can walk there in about 15mins).

I often stop by this upmarket bookstore when I'm looking for a quite respite from the clamour of the CBD... Located in the historic 'Georges' building, a short walk from the Town Hall & Scots Church... The store offers an elegant selection of hardback coffee-table books & art posters for purchase or perusal...
Also available are two of the most comfortable (deep purple) sofas upon which to rest & catch your breathe... I always make sure to spend a quite a few minutes enjoying a sit here...

Looking for a quality bookstore in the CBD? This one offers a fine range of choices and it's in the upmarket end of Collins Street, where it occupies the ground floor of a handsome 1880s building that used to house a classy department store, Georges. The ambiance lacks warmth and buzz (it's a big space, with pillars, high ceilings, pale marble-tiled floor and pale paint colours) but the staff are well-informed and you can take your time browsing without being hassled to buy or move on. Proprietor Mary Dalmau puts effort into initiatives such as themed weekend readers' and writers' festivals (off site) and author talks and signings (on site). Last time I was at Reader's Feast, the store was the venue for prize presentations for literary translators. The store puts out a good-quality promotional booklet every few months, and before Christmas there's always an outstanding selection of calendars available.
