In 1851, gold was discovered at Bendigo, sparking the Great Australian Gold Rush. Gold brought wealth and a booming population to this verdant inland city. Bendigo has many historic Victorian-era buildings, including the picturesque Queen Elizabeth Oval. The stadium continues to be a popular center for spectator sports to this day. It's well-known as a venue for top-grade matches for men's and women's Australian Rules Football and cricket matches

This oval is a highlight of the city of Bendigo. It is used for Australian football matches, including AFL matches. The grandstand at Queen Queen Elizabeth Ovel has heritage value, it is in active use.

Queen Elizabeth Oval is a highlight of Bendigo. It's near the centre of the city. The oval is named in honour of Queen Elizabetth II. The Oval has staged some big games, including Australian Football League (AFL) preseason games and AFL Womens games. The oval can accommoate 10,000 spectators, more for a big game. The Grandstand is part of the historic fabric of this golden city.

Queen Elizabeth Oval is a highlight of Bendigo. The historic grandstand is one of the best features of this golden city. The oval is used mainly used for Australian football and cricket. The oval has been improved over the years and it has been used for AFL and AFL Women's pre-season matches. In addition to the historic grandstand, the ground has substantial standing room. Under normal circumstances, the ground holds 10,000 spectators, but some 14,000 have been squezzed in for big games. The Queen Elizabeth Oval is near the centre of Bendigo, it's easy to find.

The Oval, originally known as Upper Reserve, hosted touring cricket teams as early as 1897. The ground hosted two World Series Cricket exhibition matches in 1977 and 1979. During the 1990s one List A and two first-class matches were held at the ground.
But why would the Upper Reserve be renamed? Well it was in honour of Queen Elizabeth's 1954 visit to Bendigo. The only reigning monarch to visit Bendigo, the Queen spent around 80 minutes in town, where she greeted over 9000 children in the Upper Reserve (renamed the Queen Elizabeth Oval after her visit).
I love the history of the oval and when you visit you will see the old stand... it's great place to exercise.

Quite a nice place to wander around. The grandstand is rather nice, and certainly has character. Generally open, and also has restrooms, which is pretty cool.
