Adam is as professional a guide as we have ever had and we have had many around the globe. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and thoughtful. Easy to understand in English. He answered every question and took his time with us. He is a true foodie and helped us make some choices in Budapest and Prague. He was candid and knowledgeable about the current political situation in Hungary and how they are in the US. He was helpful in every way we asked and made easy adjustments. he made sure we tasted the best strudel. I cannot imagine a better guide. It was overall a very comfortable and informative experience.

We took four tours by guides from ToursByLocals, in different cities. Each was excellent, with details and stories about the buildings, people, and history of the city. The guides brought their extensive experiences to bear. We also appreciated that they customized the tours and accommodated our needs, going slower when needed for our 90-year-old group member and providing explanations in both English and German.

This was our first experience using "Tours by Locals" and Valeria (Valerie!) was excellent. Her English was great and her knowledge of Budapest was excellent. The weather was a bit harsh, but Valerie customized the trip to what we wanted to see and the speed at which we wanted to see everything. She helped us with public transportation and non-touristy restaurant ideas, too! Highly recommend. You won't regret it. Thank you Valerie! - R&L, Atlanta, Georgia USA

Petra was Amazing! We had some specific places we wanted to see and she took care of everything! It was the best full day tour we have done in our travels, from meeting us at the train station, having a private car for us, to having umbrellas for the rain. Everything was perfect!

Our tour guide, Petra, with Tours by Locals, was amazing! Great communication, she arrived right on time for our trip, & it was like going for a day trip with a knowledgeable local friend. She was so personable & tailored our day to what we were interested in doing. Even emailed me other suggestions or what else we might like to see during our visit. Would love to schedule another tour with her next time we're in Budapest.

We were very impressed with how Rashad Soliman handled our tour. We had some activity restrictions (needed to take rest breaks, not a lot of climbing) and we were so impressed with how Rashad accommodated us without losing anything in the touring.
He was very knowledgeable about the city and the history. Additionally, Rashad was very pleasant and comfortable to engage with. I highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Petra was a wonderful soul! She was friendly and super knowledgable. She worked hard to keep us on track and on time. She shared her love of Budapest in a relatable way. We learned SO much. I would absolutely book her again!

We had an excellent tour with George. It was a blustery day but we enjoyed every minute of it. His car is very comfortable with a large viewing roof that allowed the back seat passengers to have a scenic tour as well. He customized the tour for us with both walking and by car and was as personable as you could want for a guide. His knowledge of the city was evident and his willingness to answer any and all questions was appreciated. Come equipped with puns, his repertoire is extensive. Highly recommended.

George guided us in the best and easiest way to all the sights of the city even in the rain. He came to the hotel to pick us up right on time, smiling, cheerful, a lot of historical knowledge about the country, a good driver with a new and clean vehicle. park as close as possible to points of interest every time.

Melinda was fabulous. She met me at my hotel and took me to all the places on my list as well as adding an extra one that I didn't even know was available.
She knows the history and the city very well and made my tour PERFECT!
She's also friendly and outgoing so it was like touring with an old friend. I felt comfortable asking her questions and always took the time to explain the answers to me.
I would recommend her to anyone wanting to see the Jewish part of Budapest!

When you book a tour with ToursByLocals should you give the guide an extra tip? If so, what is a reasonable amount for a really good experience?

Company representative stepping in! ToursByLocals' official policy, that all our guides are aware of, is that no tip is expected. As an earlier respondent mentioned, you have already paid the guide a fair price for the tour, and they are not depending on tips for their income. That being said, if you insist, a guide will not refuse a tip. But please be assured they are in way way expecting or depending on receiving one.
