Lighthouse Park on the tip of Roosevelt Island offers the most amazing views of both the Manhattan and Queens East River views. The breeze is just wonderful on a hot day as it comes at you from all sides.
The little lighthouse was built by prisoners at the turn of the last century and the area is surrounded by statuary dedicated to Nellie Bly, an alias for a reported who wrote "Ten Days in the Mad House" at the turn of the last century.
The little park has plenty of places to just sit and relax and enjoy the views.

As a lighthouse buff, any lighthouse we can visit is always good. This lighthouse is not open to the public but the grounds are open. It is located in a park-like setting on Roosevelt Island in Queens, NY. It is fairly easy to find and a short walk down a path from street parking. There are bathroom facilities before you start your walk.
We were visiting NYC for a few days and I wondered if there were any lighthouses nearby. I checked the internet and found this one which located about 30 minutes from the northern tip of Staten Island.
