After spending several hours viewing, the remains of the Concrete Dinosaurs, journey back to Apple Valley to observe the 24-Foot-Tall Trigger Statue located on Apple Valley Road. This gigantic statue is unique and will bring back childhood memories of Saturday morning sitting in front of the television watching the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans show. Every Saturday, Dale, and Roy, riding their steeds, would have a new adventure that thrilled children who had access to a television set. Roy horse, (originally named Golden Cloud), and later renamed Trigger passed away in 1965. Due to the popularity of his horse, Roy had his horse preserved and mounted and placed on display at the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum in Apple Valley, California in 1967. Over the years, this museum has changed locations several times. In 1976, museum relocated to Victorville, California and moved again in 2003 to Branson Missouri. To bring attention to the Victorville site, a fiberglass 24-foot-tall statue of a rearing Trigger was commissions to sit on top of the museum. This gigantic horse could be observed from the freeway and attracted thousands of visitors to the site. While the fiberglass replica of Trigger was being produced, the Denver Broncos requested and received permission to construct a second replica of Trigger. This reproduction, entitled “Bucky the Bronco” is located at Broncos Stadium in Denver Colorado. Bob Tinsley, a Victorville developer who was responsible for the construction of Roy Rogers' home in Apple Valley, bought the fiberglass replica from the bankrupt Branson Museum in April 2010, and returned it to Apple Valley in 2014 where is rightfully belongs. This amazing statue is in excellent shape, and displays Trigger with his white main, tail and hoofs and palomino colored body rising above the surrounding area. Remarkable. If you remember watching Saturday morning western TV shows, this statue will bring back nemories of those good old days. Well worth a short visit.
