Very professional setup that provides an incredible hiking experience. Be sure to contact the people mentioned on the website, so that they can arrange the guides - for first times, recommend going with a guide like we did. The hikes are relatively easy, and kid friendly too. Spotting birds, butterflies, animal droppings, trees and hillside views, or just breathing in the pure air - there is something for everyone.

I was here primarily for the bird watching which wasn't great but was made up for by the views and being able to walk the tracks at my own pace. Don't expect a big visitors center, you literally stop by the side of the road (refer photos). Guides are available- both English and Hindi which would add to the experience but I was there when it opened and before the guides arrived (you can book in advance to have them there when you want them). The main tracks are well signposted and you are loaned a map which made getting around pretty straight forward but if unsure/ not confident - get a guide. spent 6 hours walking all the tracks at a birders pace ie slow and the site is not for everyone ie some parts are moderately steep (not too bad) but they make this quite clear in their information and if anything they are a bit overly cautious. The views of the foothills across to the Himalayas are spectacular and worth the effort and monoir cost which goes into running the place

I visited Landour with my family and our dog to spend some quiet time around New Year. Our host at Landour suggested that we make a trip to Jaberkhet Natural Reserve.
To say that we enjoyed it immensely is an understatement. The trail is simply amazing, refreshing and almost cleansing. There are various trails with varying levels of difficulty. Our tour guide - Mr Vipul - was extremely caring and knowledgable.
For an urban family - this half day experience was simply too good.

Beautiful walk through protected nature reserve of mixed rhododendron, oak, deodar and pine trees. My guide Kulveer was an excellent, well-informed guide and photographer. We stopped to check a photo trap and saw that a leopard had passed that way 12 hours earlier!
On a clear day you can see the Greater Himalaya from the ridge.
Lovely tea stop and informative field guides available (alongside other merchandise) to purchase.
Highly recommend this beautiful and peaceful short hike.

This place leaves you spellbound. Too good to express in a few lines. A must visit for people who appreciate the rawness of nature and admire flora & fauna in its natural habitat. We spotted a barking deer as well.

Dear Prateek, Thank you so much for your feedback. I talked to you on a phone call after the sighting of the Big Black Bear, As you know in the Jungle we never know what animals can be seen. but Black Bears are extremely rare to see during this season as per our Camera Trap Records, But sometimes they come for Berries, as we have very less footfall during the Mansoon which may be the reason he came out during the day, they mostly come in Winter for the Oak Acorns and mostly at Night I am saying this based on our Camera traps Records 95% photos has been recorded in only Winter and 90% time at Night. That's why you are the Fisrt Visitor in the last 8 Years Who sighted the Bear, Anyway, I am glad he didn't come towards you, Everything is okay. apart from that, I hope you enjoyed the walk.
Request to all Future Visitors please ask or Book a Guide to assist you if you choose to walk on your own, reserve & management will not be responsible if something goes wrong.

I did a solo hike here in June 2023 and had a 10/10 experience in overcast conditions. The trails are all natural with easy-to-moderate difficulty. There are many scenic points (don't miss the panoramic views from the Flag Top Hill), local flora, fauna and avifauna. You could do these with young kids as well (saw people doing it with kids as young as 7)
There is an entry fee (Rs 350 for adults and Rs 150 for kids) since it is maintained by a private group but I felt the fee was totally worth it considering it is one of the most well-maintained preserve I have seen.
The inner trails are through dense cover of woods with plenty of shade, making it a true all-year destination.
Finally, the crew at the base was extremely helpful, especially Rahul and Shiv.
If you are visiting Mussoorie/near-by area and love nature, this is a must-visit!

If you're in Mussoorie I would highly recommend a walk in Jabarketh Nature Reserve. Go for a guided walk if possible so that the guide can brief you on all the fora and fauna found in Mussoorie. Our guide was exceptionally humorous and offered valuable information in a way you'd never forget. While you're enjoying the scenic beauty watch out for pokey stones and slippery leave strewn pathways! Walking under the shade of pines and deodars it was thrilling to step into the daisy filled "Meadows" and come accross happy groups of picnic goers. There's a small shanty that offers chai, coffee and Maggi.
For me, this little outing made my Mussoorie holiday complete and offered me a true feel of the hills I had come to see.

Jabarkhet nature reserve is a must for a level 1 trekker. We went here this May 2023 with our 6 yr old. It's a 2.7km trek with lots of flora and a bit of fauna. This is a hidden gem very close to landour and privately owned by Mr. Vipul Jain. The 100 acre reserve is will maintained and a guided tour at ₹600/person is worth it.
Each of the trails inside is will named and takes you through the dense forests of deodhar, pine, oak and rhododendron flowers in bloom which was a pretty site. Also look out for the different birds and ladybird 🐞 too
There are multiple trails which you can choose from offering varied difficulty level, experience and views. Would highly recommend a guided tour as they help you with the way and also have interesting facts and stories of the place and nature. A must visit place for an interesting view of the hills close to Mussoorie and Landour

If you are a nature lover, trails in this reserve are nicely created. We enjoyed the 2 hr walk inside the reserve with very good views. Meadows are beautiful.

You would have to take a cab. Its a trek so would not be very easy carrying a toddler. Also for elders who are not fit, its may not be a easy walk. Decide basis your fitness. There are pit stops where the elders can sit and the more fit set can go for a longer walk. Ensure that you have a guide along.
