Many people do not know existence of this place.. may be because this is not the place where Ghalib born (Agra), nor the place where he was cremated (Ghalib Tomb near, Nizamuddin Dargah).. also, the museum dedicated to Ghalib is located at other place (near tomb of Khwaja Nizamuddin)..
however, this is the place where he stayed his last years of life.. an attempt to collect reminiscence of his last days, some of his writings, idol and paintings .. no entry fee.. only complain is that, there is no proper sign board at chandini chowk, or at the entrance to street, have to ask around

No doubt this haveli holds some heritage values, but personally I find it to be too niche to my liking. In terms of beauty, it also does not jump out at me. There are informative panels describing the life of Mirza Ghalib, so it is something to learn still.

Mirza Ghalib Haveli or Ghalib's Mansion is located in the century at the Qasim Jan Street of the Ballimaran area of Old Delhi where the renowned Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib once lived and created his works. Mirza Ghalib was a celebrated Urdu and Persian poet, who lived during the last years of the Mughal Empire in India. He is regarded as one of the greatest poets in the history of Urdu literature and his works continue to inspire and influence generations. Today, it is a museum and memorial to his life and legacy. The heritage site managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Haveli made into a permanent memorial museum housing objects related to Mirza Ghalib, it offers an insight into Ghalib's great literary work and his lifestyle

It was so nice to be here. It is in the old street of chandni chowk and maintained in a nice manner. They have put maintained some manuscripts here and it was overall a nice experience.

This is a small Haveli in a small crowded street of Chandni Chowk In Old Delhi. It was here that Mirza Ghalib spent last nine years of his life. The visit takes you back 150 years in history and brings in mind the images when Ghalib would have lived here. Sheer delight. The place has now been converted into a small museum of sort where things related to Ghalib are kept and his poetry is written. I had visited Chandni Chowk so many times earlier but was not aware of this historical jewel in one of the alleys. Quite clean and calm, must visit if you love Ghalib and his poetry.

One has to abandon Google maps and rely on old fashioned instructions from locals (ask the senior shopkeepers for Ghalib's haveli in Balimaran) to reach this unique museum. It's about a 10 minutes walk through Chandni chowk market from the Chandni chowk metro station. Basically a portion of the ground floor of his haveli has been converted into a museum. While the display items are not his personal things the place has a wealth of information on his life. Entry is free.
Urdu poets during the lingering end of the Mughal Empire have been among the most famous residents of Delhi thanks to their poetic tributes to their beloved city which are still quoted. They captured the pinnacle of Delhi's culture and riches.
Of these poets Ghalib towers the tallest. While he had residences across North India where he spent varied amounts of time, he is best known for his association with Delhi and the last Mughal Bahadur Shah Zafar. Though the environs of Ghalib's Delhi residence are no longer what they would have been in his time, it's worth a visit for his fans and those trying to get a glimpse of old Delhi culture. Readers of William Dalrymple will also find it an interesting visit.
