Looks like a movie set (and in fact has appeared in a number of films). Beautiful trees, locals walking their dogs or just taking in the air. Directly across the street from famous Whiskey Row and surrounded by restored buildings now housing shops and restaurants. A functioning courthouse. Famous statue of Rough Rider/lawman Bucky O'Neil out front, considered by some the finest equestrian statue ever made. By Solon Borglum, brother of Gutzon Borglum (Mt. Rushmore). Great place to sit, people watch, and nosh on something from one of the many nearby restaurants.

The court house square provides a great small town feeling -with occasional concerts, etc. The only issue is that downtown Prescott has become a major tourist destination with all of the businesses., prices, etc. that goes along with that. Still a must-see if you are in the neighborhood.

We came to do some sight-seeing for the day. We grabbed lunch and sat in the grass to eat. It was pretty busy when we went but it was kind of peaceful. There are some good shops in the area.

Beautiful courthouse square that is essentially a park. Excellently maintained. Multiple benches for sitting or you can put out a blanket on the grass. Very shaded from all the trees. Great place to relax and hang out.

PROS: This is a well down square that feels like a park. There are benches, shade trees, grass to sit on, sidewalks and it is visible from four sides of the shopping areas. Events are hosted here often. Every town should have this feature!
CONS: an ice cream vendor cart would add just that extra touch.

Stayed in Prescott, AZ for the first time this vacation. It exceeded our expectations. The people there are truly friendly. The Courthouse Square was beautiful and we took some time to explore it and hang out a little while. Even enjoyed some music entertainment there! Public bathrooms are easily accessible and clean. Perfect location right across from Whiskey Row and all the little shops and restaurants. The three of us (ladies in our early 60's) simply fell in love with Prescott. Thank you, Prescott Community, for helping make our vacation so wonderful.

Thisis a great place to check out the bronze statues, walk your dog, see concerts, shop the booths, see parades...Prescott is fun and such a great HOME TOWN type place and the courthouse is the center of the action, across from Whiskey Row (Montezuma Street)

Visiting Prescott to kill a little time we decided to check out the courthouse and surrounding square. A beautiful old structure built in 1916, it still retains the old-time mystic of days gone by. On the first floor is a small museum with a timeline of the county, the courthouses and surrounding square. A view into the past of Yavapai County, Arizona.
The square contains several sculptures. One depicts the old west heritage of the state 'The Resting Cowboy', another is dedicated to the 'Rough Riders' of the Spanish War, and a third dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The fountain is under renovation and the bandstand is still on site. There is a security check and masks are required.

Does the county offer tours of the interior of the building?

I don't know if there is a guided tour of the inside. We went in and looked around on our own. It is a working courthouse so we had to go through the metal detectors.
