Primarily the residence of Dalai Lama and from where Tibet's Government-in- Exile operates. Have a Kalchakra Temple inside, a good book shop and a nice Tibetan emporium! At McleodGunj, on the hills!

Nice but a small monastery

The monastery is at a height. Has become popular because His Holiness Dalai Lama stays here. The tere are many steps to climb. I saw a lift but not sure if it’s operational. You must try and visit when the prayers or mainly the debates are going on. I think the debates are in the evening from 4-5 pm.

visit this temple during my recent visit to Mcleodganj. very peaceful place you will feel the positive vibes once you reach at the temple premises. HH Dalai Lama ji was not there at that time.

Abode of his Holiness Dalai Lama situated in the middle of Macloadganj . Big temple and in case you are lucky you get to attend Dalai Lama’s address. Very serene and blessed place. You can sit for hours to meditation. You can reach this temple by your vehicle or cab. Parking available just outside but heavily crowded. You can also reach this place by skyway cable car from Dharamsala. Totally calm and quiet place in the mid of pine trees . Photographers delight and must visit place.

An excellent trip. We went in October, a good month in terms of weather. We able to attend prayer sessions with HH Dalai Lama. Very nice walks in the morning (circumambulation path) around the temple. Dharamsala is somewhere we'll return to, has a special spirit.

Power of prayers and dhoop. Fragrance soaked temple complex with enough room for prayers, play, study and mountain gazing.

You can experience the chants, the thud and lull of music and instruments .
Extreme solace of soul to gaze the shining golden Budhda.

You can offer anything or nothing to the prayer Hall, yet you would return satisfied.

The design of the monastery complex is such that there is something for everyone to explore.

At a distance, you can see the Dharmshala ropeway by the TATA enterprise watching over the beautiful monastery complex.

Recommend a zip lining experience in the best ropeway I have experienced in India.
