Wonderful visit to FLW’s largest building and one of his last. Should be more well-known - it’s an awe-inspiring spaceship-style modern cathedral. We did the docent-led tour which gave many fascinating insights. Our guide, Jonathan, was excellent - informed and amusing. Make the pilgrimage next time your are in the Bay Area.

We stopped in to visit the famous civic center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We very much enjoyed the architectural design from Wright throughout the complex. They county has done a wonderful job recounting the story of getting the civic center completed and some of the barriers encountered along the way. We also enjoyed the special textiles exhibit on display during our July 2022 visit. If you're in the area, appreciate architecture, and/or a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, this is a must for your itinerary!

A masterpiece of architecture. The civic center is gorgeous to just wander around (quietly, it’s an active government building with courtrooms and county offices). If you’re visiting then the best thing is to take a guided tour. Tours are running as of 2022 and well worth scheduling to learn about this amazingly built and preserved landmark.

A sight to behold for any Frank Lloyd Wright or architecture fan. It's a public building so you can wander most anywhere Mon-Fri. Many FLW displays and concept drawings throughout, including in the cafeteria. Take the semi hidden Scenic View path for an up close look at the spire.

We drove by and then went back because it was so giganormous to check it out. It is truly a sight to see and look at. We drove around it and looked like government building. Didn’t go inside ; doubt we could do in Covid world.

This county office building is a most unusual design as far as offices goes. They encourage tourists to wander around, inside and out to appreciate all the unique architectural features. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Very simple to get to from either North or South on 101.
Northbound:
Take the N San Pedro Rd. Exit eastbound. It’s right after you crest over a hill on 101N.
After Merging onto N San Pedro, get in the leftmost lane as fast as possible, because you need to go Left at the first light, San Pablo Ave.
The Marin Civic is on your left.
You can park in a lot on the right, near the lagoon and park.
Or, take a left under the building itself to a lot on the other side.

I think the interior is closed outside of business hours. If you go self-guided, visit the cafeteria on the 2nd floor and have a snack or drink while sitting on the outside terrace (near the rear of the dining room). Very pretty on a pretty day. Tour info: marincounty . org/depts/cu/tours
