This is the kind of place I search for when we are going on a trip. A bit out of the way, a bit funky, cute, homey.
We like to see what they have that we can't get back home. Different treats, pasties, fruits … We ended up with a few salsa's, jams, (Seedless for me, diverticulitis), cinnamon buns and more.
We enjoy everything we purchased, then or in the days ahead

My son and I enjoy Fifer's festivals, events, and store items several times each year. The fall fest has grown over the years and the activities this year were organized and fun, but as a too-cool only-child tween he decided not to do them (the tickets cost extra anyway). We did want to do the apple cannon shooting but it cost $5 extra per person. So we went with the corn maze (which we enjoy every year - great for his mapping skills!), the pumpkin patch to get our carving pumpkins, and the store for some goodies to take home. Everyone at Fifer's is friendly and the atmosphere is festive fun. I order a lot of my Thanksgiving food from them as well, including a fresh turkey!
My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because I couldn't eat there this year. They always have tasty food and treats but I am gluten intolerant (reactions are terrible and last days to weeks, depending on exposure). Last year I asked what was available and was given safe options and ate a good meal. This year I was told the only gluten free option was a side salad with no dressing (bleh...). I asked about the burgers (with no bun - the burgers were being cooked in separate location), the pulled pork or the smoked brisket without a bun but was told they were too busy to do any "special" orders. If I had known that this year there would be no safe options to eat, I would have eaten before I came. I went in the store, bought an apple, a banana, and a pre-packaged beef stick for lunch. Then I sat at a table smelling the delicious food and watching others eat it. Very disappointing! It makes me sad (and hungry!) when I can't eat, especially when it would be very easy to have something to offer with all the smoked and roasted meats they make.

Went there to shop in the farm store and grab some lunch. Don’t!
The Farmer’s BLT had 2 if the smallest thinnest sliced tomatoes I have ever seen and the 1/2 piece of romaine lettuce was soggy. There was a ton of bacon but it was salty beyond belief- even after removing it the tomato and lettuce could still not be tasted.
Extremely disappointing.

We visited Fifer's for their corn maze and fall festivities in October on Columbus Day. This year online reservations for the corn maze were offered at reduced pricing as compared to at the gate (save $1.05). Tickets were required for anyone ages 3 & up. We made reservations to ensure availability as they do sell out. This year the skill challenge games were NOT included in the corn maze pricing. Instead ALL wooden games were moved INSIDE the Fun Park, which was an additional fee. Fun Park fee included the skill games, giant slide, corn crib, pedal tractors, foosball, roller bowlers, octo-ball and etc. Adults had to purchase tickets to the Fun Park even IF just escorting their children into the fun park. We opted to just purchase the corn maze ticket and pass on the Fun Park.
Once at Fifers, we were guided into a side parking lot in a grassy field. Here we parked and walked over to the corn maze area. Here we checked in and got our corn maze only wristband. We were provided maps and shown the entrance. This years theme was Scooby Doo so there was a mystery card to help solve the case.
This year the corn maze was moderate in difficulty. It was more difficult than last year's PacMan Maze, but I think most would do ok. We probably spent about 40 minutes total in the maze. That included stopping at ALL of the mystery clues and the observation deck that overlooks the field. Once we completed the maze, we stopped back at the check-in table to show our completed mystery card & solve the mystery. Once we solved the mystery we were provided with a sticker for solving the case. We took a few moments to take our pictures with the characters from Scooby Doo that were on straw bales around the edge of the maze.
Standing outside the corn maze, we could see the Fun Park and what activities were inside. From the outside looking in: we could see pedal cars, funnel ball, basketball, giant sized foosball and a slide (but I would not call it HUGE or SUPER). Also the photo-op of the Mystery machine tractor and a couple of the character straw bales were INSIDE the Fun Park. I thought that was really lame of Fifer's to move several of the character & tractor photo-ops INSIDE the additional fee(s) area.
From here we made our way inside the market to get some apple cider donuts, glazed cashews and balsamic vinegar. These are items that we look forward to each time we visit the farm. They are all delicious!! They also offer produce and seasonal items like pumpkins. You can buy a large variety of pumpkins from the pre-picked tables OR pay a fee ($1.95 per person) to enter the pumpkin picking field.
After we shopped the market, we stopped by the food stands to see what all they had to offer as lunch was nearing and we were all getting a little hungry. Some of the items they offered included cheeseburgers ($11.95), chicken tenders ($10.95), salmon filet sandwiches ($14.95), fries, personal sized pizza ($9.95), apple cider donuts, ice cream, apple dumplings, kettle corn, glazed nuts and apple cider slushies. Prices were kind of high, so we opted to skip it.
Overall, we had a nice time with Fifer's. The corn maze was good, but not really exciting. Market is really nice and we enjoy their items. Cider donuts are really good. I would recommend them. However, I feel like things are becoming more commercialized at Fifer's. They added the grill this season, which was nice, but the prices were kind of high. I did NOT like that the simple skill games were moved inside the fun park. I feel like they should offer those to ALL guests visiting the farm. I also do not like that there is a separate fee for the pumpkin picking field & kiddie train. I did not even see the kiddie train. You would think that the train would be included in the fun park fee. Also, moving several of the character straw bales and the Fifer's tractor INSIDE the Fun Park was a foul move. IF you wanted your picture with those characters or the tractor you would have to pay to get inside the gate. I will visit again as we do enjoy the farm atmosphere, donuts, corn maze and the market. I feel it is a very kid/family friendly environment and super clean for a farm. Maze was wide and path was clear. However, I feel like they are getting a little money hungry by charging a fee for almost everything and not including any free games or experiences for visitors!

I look forward to the Fall Festival every year. However, this year, I was disappointed. What was once a hometown, the family-friendly, affordable event, has gotten significantly commercialized. Now you have to pay for the maze and upgrade if you want to do the activities for a higher price. They hardly had any vendors this year, and it just seemed like a money grab for them. During a pandemic, when families are struggling, it seemed sad the cost was out of reach for a family of four. The entry to get in with prepaid tickets was disorganized, and there was little benefit for paying ahead since you were stuck in a long line anyway. The kids' events looked commercially bought activities rather than the farm made items with made with hay from the past.
Sadly this will probably be our last year as I prefer a local community feel to a farm event. The only thing that made it pleasant was the enthusiastic worker heading the corn maze. She was a delight.

We had been to Fifer's before during the summer for produce and canning tomatoes. We enjoyed our visit then, so we decided to visit Fifer Orchard for their PacMan Corn Maze this fall.
We made a timed reservations online. Once at the farm we were instructed to park in the grassy field beside the maze. We were instructed to show our tickets at the tent. Here they gave us instructions for the maze, a nice color postcard map and told use to take a small pumpkin on our way out. This maze had nice wide paths and the map was very easy to use to navigate the maze. Throughout the maze they had numbered markers with little silly questions on them to make the maze fun for kids. This was not a difficult maze. In fact, it was really easy. This is a good maze for families with kids who do not want to get lost in a huge corn field. It probably took us a half an hour to complete the maze, including stopping at the signs and observation tower. The observation tower was an elevated wooden platform at the end of the maze that gives you an aerial view of the maze.
After doing the corn maze, we walked around the farm. They had several wooden games for the kids to play, a basketball toss game and a photo op area with their old pickup truck. Staff was on hand to help take pictures of your family with your camera. Also, at the back of the farm there were wagon rides to the apple picking field and the entrance to the pumpkin patch field. We did not do either. Pumpkins were also available in bins and tables in front of the farm market should you not want to walk down into the field.
Once we checked out the farm activities, we ventured into the actual farm store. Here we purchased some nuts, cauliflower and broccoli. Outside the market they had a take out window where you could purchase food items without going inside the market. One line was for apple cider donuts, apple cider slushies, drinks and soft pretzels. The other line was for ice cream. In addition to these, there was a booth for bagged flavored popcorns. We did visit the donut stand where we purchased a couple dozen donuts. They were super fresh and really tasty. Staff at the donut stand was really friendly.
Overall, we had a nice day at the farm. Activities were limited this year due to Covid-19. However, we felt that what they did offer was pretty nice. We probably spent around 2 & 1/2 hours here doing the corn maze, fall activities, market and enjoying a picnic (brought from home) on location. Most staff was friendly. They did their best to practice social distancing. Only thing I would caution is that parking fills up fast. I would recommend getting there early since the parking overflow is up the road, which requires walking down to the farm.

I saw an ad on Fifer's Facebook page that they had 25-lb boxes of canning tomatoes offered at a special rate one day. I was super excited since our local farm hasn't hardly had any canning tomatoes to offer this summer. I messaged Fifer's to inquire as to how long the special was running, but got NO response until DAYS later. I tried calling all morning (830-1130am) & NO one answered their phones! I really wanted to get tomatoes that morning and start canning. However, it is about an hour drive for me & I didn't want to drive down there to discover they were closed during this pandemic OR that the special on canning tomatoes had ended. So, I tried phoning again at 530pm, just before their closing time. This time a young man answered and informed me that they did have canning tomatoes at the special rate still & they were indeed open. He suggested I call back in the morning to make sure they still had some. However, when i explained that I called for 3 hours straight THIS morning and no one answered, he offered to hold 3 boxes of canners for me for the following morning.
The next morning I got up and drove an hour to Fifer's. As I was pulling into their parking lot, I get a call from a woman in the farm store. She tells me that they got my message about canning tomatoes and wanted to inform me that they had them. I explained to her that the young man I spoke to last night had HELD 3 boxes for me. She RUDELY proceeds to state that they do NOT hold seconds (canning tomatoes, peaches, etc). She matter-of-factly stated that they would have some in their seconds area until they sold out, but I had better come early. I explained that I was in their parking lot already. I also explained that I had neer been to Fifer's before and had no idea where the "seconds area" was located.
All of sudden her tone changes and she tries to be friendly. She even offered to meet me at the bottom of the stairs to show me where the seconds were located. Next to the boxes of seconds peaches/tomatoes, they also had a quick-sell seconds table with various produce items at reduced rates.
We shopped around their farm market which sold all kinds of produce, olive oils/vinegar, coffee, kettle popcorn, baked pies, root beer/ginger ale, apple butters, apple cider donuts, local honey, peanut butter, local dairy, eggs, cider, roasted nuts, hand dipped ice cream & grab-n-go quarts of ice cream. They also had a small cooler or freezer with a small selection of meats. I did see a few small gift items for purchase as well. I'm sure there were other items too but these are the ones I recall the most.
After shopping around the market, we made our way to check out where we paid for our 3 boxes canning tomatoes (75lbs total), fresh corn on the cob, a quart of blueberry ice cream, a gallon of apple cider, a bottle of fig balsamic vinegar, a pack of fresh mozzarella cheese, 2 packs of roasted almonds and a handful of seconds red peppers. We were instructed to show our receipt for the canners at the seconds area and an employee would help us load our car. As promised an employee did load them into our car.
After loading our purchases into the car, we took a few moments to check out the HUGE "Welcoming Shade tree" (planted in 1930's). There are a few benches around the tree should you want to rest for a moment.
Overall, we enjoyed Fifer's. The farm market was very clean, attractive and had a nice selection of items to choose from. Prices were clearly marked. Prices were average. The canning tomatoes were good quality and weighed in at 25 pounds per box as quoted. Prices for the canners was EXCELLENT! Staff working in the farm market at checkout were friendly. All of our purchases were delicious! We loved the donuts and fresh corn. I would visit here again AND recommend it. In fact, we have actually already visited the farm a second time....to get more canning tomatoes!! Our second visit went much better. AND I would return again in the future.
Note: I think Fifer's a nice farm, however, I am deducting 2 stars for: NOT answering phones, being slow to respond to Facebook messages/emails and also for the rude treatment we received during our phone call on the morning we arrived to pick up the initial batch of canning tomatoes. They say first impressions are lasting impressions! Unfortunately I cannot overlook these service issues despite finding the farm market and farm a beautiful place with delicious products.

I guess we are just used to and pampered with better grown produce. As former and previous long-time residents of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, we enjoyed access to a variety of produce year round. For example, vine-riped tomatoes, sun and tree-ripened PEACHES, and a host of other locally grown produce. We were duped by believing the signage and worker's instructions "to put hard peaches in a paper bag for 24 hours to ripen." We bought a basket. Followed the instructions but found hard peaches even after 48 hours. Unfortunately they just shriveled up, with some ripening after a week! Duped once, shame on you. Duped twice, shame on me.
We have enjoyed Fifer's blue berries, so we know that this orchard has a good following, but selling non-ripened peaches with paper bah instructions seems counter to a true, ethically run orchard. We passed acres of peach trees with time-ripening peaches, so what gives? Buyer beware.

Andromeda2983, Memorial Day Weekend is a great time to visit the farm! Our Country Store will be packed with sweet corn, melons, tomatoes, and supplies for your BBQ's. We will also have a couple of food vendors for lunch. Plus, we'll have U-Pick Strawberries available, which makes for a perfect activity for the entire family. We do not charge an entrance fee, but if you would like to take part in the u-pick activities, there is a fee per pint/bucket picked. We hope to see you at the farm!
