I was part of the HERITAGE DAY, April 6, 2024. Several hundred flocked to the Museum site on 120 Sams Avenue to stroll through the Museum free of charge, partake of a tour of the interior of the building, hearing of its fascinating history and enjoying the integrally involved tented displays on Sams Avenue. I can see that there is enormous pride in being a member of this organization. After all it is the THIRD oldest city in Florida with a story of being settled in 1768 by the LARGEST group of Europeans in all of early American history. Tours were held giving an overview of the fascinating history of how Scotland and England worked to sign up 1,003 peoples to work as Indentured Servants in what would be one of the largest Indigo growing settlements in the pre-Revolutionary War era of America's beginnings.

Great walking tour of the 3 downtowns of New Smyrna by our volunteer John. Interesting historical information on why the downtown was moved 3 times. We also got to see and hear about many historical homes in the area.

Great little museum, with big-time information. Extensive exhibit on the 1768 Turnbull settlement. Local history spanning hundreds of years. The tapestries from the WPA program are fantastic!! There is also a room devoted to East Coast surfing! The gift shop is amazing, try the datil pepper salsa! So good!!

I was taking a look at the Museum's site and saw what was being said over and over and over was incorrect. Most visitors are glad for the correct information, so here it is. First off, St. Augustine was established in September, 1565 . New Smyrna didn't come into being until 1768. Almost 200 years later. The probability of the Spanish exploring our area is quite feasible, but the shallowness of the lagoon and treacherous inlet meant 'no go'.

Great place to visit in the quaint center of this town. Linda & Stewart went out of their way to make our tour interesting and informative. They are passionate about their town and its history and share many episodes from the past! Definitely worth a visit!

My wife and I along with another couple visited the museum and did the 1.5 hour guided walking tour of the 'Three Downtowns of Old Smyrna' and really enjoyed it. The museum has a lot of artifacts and pictures of the history and growth of NSB. The guided tour covered the topics of the initial area settlement in 1768 through the arrival of Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway and was approximately 1.5 miles that we covered at a very leisurely pace with many stops to look at old buildings, houses, and landmarks while listening to the guide tell the history and show us old pictures at that location from 100 years ago. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and reasonably priced ($10 per person) tour.

We went and toured this museum today! Everyone was so nice and wonderful to us! Had so much history at this place! The original pictures of their history was amazing!! If you are a history buff I highly recommend this place ! You want regret it! Learned so much here today!!

A lot of memorabilia, history of town and a surfing section. I love learning about areas and lots to learn here. Hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Would return. Located in town so convenient to walk to shops and restaurants.

Hi Gary, The museum does not have a set entrance fee. Rather, we do ask for donations. Donations are not required for entrance however. We hope you are able to visit soon!
