This is a great museum, full of many interesting things that give an idea of life in north-west Nebraska from the 1880s to the 1960s. It is well organised into sections: so, there are areas about the railway, high schools, clothes, the military, musical life, toys, agriculture and its machinery, home life, the medical industry, farming, and many more besides. It is a place that encourages the visitor to explore its exhibits, to have a bit of a rummage. The people who run it could not have been more accommodating or helpful - I came out of season, but having made contact beforehand, they were able to open up the museum just for us. And the curator was extremely knowledgeable and told interesting stories about Chadron and Dawes County. This is well worth a trip if you are in the area.

I know that each time I visit there will be new and interesting things to see - staff are knowledgeable - the old pianos are wonderful - a new cabinet with a beautiful antique spinning wheel

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, amazing collection of artifacts reflecting the local history and general American history. Outside there is a caboose as well as a display of agricultural implements. A great place to visit if you're in the area.

We enjoyed seeing all of the antiques and artifacts and learning about the history of the area in this museum. There were a number of additional buildings including a church, school, and cabin on the grounds that were also very interesting.

I thought the museum potentially had a lot to see, but when I walked into the first room in the building, there was a Klu Klux Klan robe hanging up and it was the first thing I saw. There was no explanation or context which to judge it by and when asked about it, the volunteer did not know anything about it. I was offended and promptly left. I would prefer that it is not even shown, but If the museum is going to display something like this, it needs to be properly curated which it obviously was not.

This museum has a very rich and informative collection of articles from Northwest Nebraskas early pioneers to vintage military itemsthey have a huge antique toy section to a world class pen exhibit.It is set up so any visiter will find it interesting ,it is well worth the stop.

I was really disappointed when I walked up and realized the museum was closed for the season. It opens in at and closed in October. So I explored the outdoor exhibits, which are quite extensive. When I was done and older gentleman stepped out of the museum and asked "Aren't you coming in?" I said I thought they were closed and he said they were inside getting things ready and invited me in. You gotta love rural America. So I perused the exhibits inside as well. All by myself.

Facinating collection of the history of fur trade days. So well done! The Dr. here consulted for the movie Revenent (Sp?) and the movie donated some of the costume back to the museum.

This museum includes many eras of display. The railroad and ranching history were great. The Chadron to Chicago horse race was very unusual.
