I know there are unhoused people around, I know there are people in the park who are impverished, but don't let that discourage you from this beautiful linear park and shows off the exciting Truckee River. It's a great walk even in cold winter weather. Nice landscaping.

this is my favorite walking- especially the morning. The sun sparkles as you walk down. sometimes there are independent craft people selling _ I purchase earrings! sometimes I watch the locals having fun jumping in the water or watch them fish! The ducks make my laugh as they take rides down the rapids.

The river view is nice, but with that being said, lots of homeless are in the area. Not as many businesses or restaurants in the area as expected. While walking through some parts we had to avoid human feces. I wouldn't recommend for families

There was so many closed businesses and homeless in the downtown area and in the park and on the river walk with just a few restaurants. Nothing like other river walks we have visited. The homeless followed us around until we finally just went back to our beautiful Peppermill Resort.

The walk gives you a view of the city and river. The city view is alright, so is the river. There are some nice fountains and the bridge is cool.

Compared to numerous other river walks we've visited in the southwest, we're glad we took the time to see this one. Although we didn't utilize any of the businesses along the way, there appeared to be several restaurants and bars that looked nice. The Truckee River is gorgeous, there's an adjacent park and it's a good place to put your feet, or more, in this pristine river

The River Walk in Reno is well worth the effort for those wishing to get outside. The city of Reno has done an outstanding job on the river walk project. Beautiful grounds and landscaping add to the experience. The river is enhanced by the placement of rocks and shrubbery. Plenty of space for all in this wonderfully done civic project . Congratulations Reno for a job well done.

Reno could give lessons on building and maintaining a positive community gathering/exercising/interactive linear park. Seeing people fishing and kayaking in a downtown is totally cool!

This was a lovely walk by the side of the river through Reno. Unfortunately I did not have time to walk too far and so I did not discover how far is walkable. However notices implied that there might be quite lengthy trails. I would like to return to find out.

There’s a garage (paid of course) on Virginia. It’s north of the Century Theater, across a small side street from it.

Hello Nancy,
Can you tell me if there are public restrooms along the route? I will be starting off close to the Sienna Casino & need to know where they are. All the maps I have looked at showing the Trukee River walking path do not list bathrooms. As I am a "senior" this is very important information.

Although I didn't see any public restrooms, the restaurants along the river had no problem allowing people that needed to use their restrooms.

We are staying at the Eldorado and visiting Reno Feb12-14. How far is the river walk from the Hotel and how far of a trail is the River walk?

I also stayed at the El Dorado. It is about 4 blocks to the Truckee River Walk. It is a paved, level trail, head up river to get to Idlewilde park where you will find the Nevada State Law Enforcement Memorial and the Reno Rose Gardens. It is about 1 mile to this park. The trail continues on past the park for probably another mile if you are inclined to go farther. So the walk from the El Dorado to Idlewilde Park is a little over 2 miles round trip. There is a really nice Cinema on the River Walk and there is a section of created whitewater recreation where kayaks practice. The river should be pretty high right now, it will be a fun walk. Check out the Reno Botanical Gardens and Museum too, they are just past the University of Nevada. Also about a 1 mile walk on city streets, mostly uphill.

I did not see an no fishing signs. Check on the Nevada Department of Fish and Game to see if it is open and the price for non-resident licenses.

Hi. I will be staying at the Silver Legacy and planning to do my long run (~13 miles) this Friday morning along the river, what would be the best spot to park my car and what would be the best running path (more scenic and safe, and less industrial areas and less number of homeless people)?

Leave car at Silver Legacy and walk to river. I think heading East along river has more running / biking paths but not sure. Ask locally.

We are going to be staying at peppermill in December and am curious if we bundle up ... Would it still be a good walk or too cold even bundled up?

It won't be too cold to walk around the Riverwalk unless there is a blizzard. Check the weather reports to be sure that it is OK. It is best to walk there in the afternoons during December, the warmest part of the day. There are lots of fine places to stop for hot beverages and food, and interesting places to look at both inside and out. It is not walking distance from The Peppermill though. You will have to take a car, Uber, taxi or bus. Check out the site for Reno Riverwalk. I can't give url's here.

It's pretty far, but straight up Virginia Street. I know people who have walked it, but not me. I would grab a cab, Uber or even the city bus ( I believe there is a bus route up and down Virginia). The River Walk is super convenient to the "downtown" area. I would plan some time to be downtown-- checking out the casinos and doing the River Walk at the same time. All that said, Peppermill is my favorite -- the food at Oceano is my favorite!
