I shall only remark that if the village of Saugerties, with all it's natural splendor finds itself at such a loss of imagination, that those in elected office hath christened it "falling waters"rather than "water fall" then there in lies the heart of the matter.

The Falling Waters Preserve is a nice, short (30 minute each way) hike through a nature preserve. Trails are well marked and maintained; suitable for regular shoes (hiking boots not necessary). My only complaint is that more people might visit if there were more signs. We were trying to find it from a map and mapping program. Streets have no signs, the facility has no sign until you actually find its parking lot, and even roads have multiple names, not all signed or used by the mapping programs.
But if you can find it, Falling Waters is a good, short walk.

Wonderful short trail on or almost on the banks of the Hudson River. I recommend you start on the red trail (0.89 mi); it goes up at the beginning and then it's mostly flat, with gravel like a small road meandering through the woods. You get glimpses of the river through the trees. At the end, a small waterfall, mostly a stream jumping down from stone to stone, with a nice bench where you can relax and listen to the water's "song". Then you can go down to come back on the white trail (0.65 mi) which is a little more challenging with several ups and downs, or turn around on the red trail. At this time in the fall, the leaves can be slippery. You need to be careful how you step, but the payout is big: you get to go down to the water edge, see the river panorama and enjoy great views. The whole loop took about an hour; we wished we would have stopped more and longer to just relax and see the forest.

Beautiful walk. The uphill of the red trail was hard for me a couch potato but others were zipping up it. There are some benches. Wished there were more. The small waterfall was serene. I sat there and read for an hour. Sorry I didn't have my journal with me. Took the white trail back. It was shorter and more scenic - along the Hudson river but more challenging as it was a path and not the gravel road of the red path. My only complaint is that there were no bathrooms - even portapotties at the beginning of the trail. I had to leave and didn't get to eat my lunch there.

A short trail leads you to the bank of the Hudson River.
Along the way a trickle of water falls across the rocks but it is currently under repair with heavy equipment used to redirect the stream.

We visited Falling Waters Preserve on a Sunday. There's a small parking lot (for approx 12 cars); however, since the hiking trails are short, people go in and leave fast. Please note; there's no public restrooms; so in case you want to spend some time there by the waterfalls, you will have to use the restroom before you get to the this place.
We really enjoyed our walk and sitting by the falls; very relaxing and peaceful that we decided to have our lunch there.
The views to the Hudson River are not as spectacular as described. You can see the river when you complete the longest trail (red trail), but there's no way to get in the water, not even your feet as it is very muddy.
If you're looking for a brief relaxing walk and spend some time in contact with nature, you should consider this spot.

This is a beautiful place to hike. Trails are all clearly marked, preserve is well maintained with several beautiful wood benches. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely go back.

Just had a few minutes before heading out of town. Wanted to take in the Hudson, and walk the dog. This was a perfect spot for both.

This is a relatively easy hike with a beautiful view of the Hudson, varied terrain, and waterfalls alongside the trail. A few steep uphill and downhill climbs on the white trail might be difficult for those with any physical limitations; the upper red trail is easier to navigate.

How's the parking situation there? Is there a parking lot?
2020년 8월 9일 작성
There’s a very small parking lot for maybe 10 or so cars. We were there on a Saturday around noon and had no problem parking. I don’t know if we just lucked out or if it’s like that on a regular basis.

Take 9w north to saugerties. Turn right at Bishops gate development. Follow the road to the Dominican sisters convention center. You will see the parking area and an information sign. Hope that helps!
