One of my favorite small parks to visit when visiting my daughter who lives in Astoria. It has rotating exhibits. I like that these exhibits can for most part be touched or you can get close. My best description would be very eclectic. It borders on the East river. It’s more of a place to walk to as the Costco next door is always jammed with cars.

I read raving reviews about the sculpture park but actually it was quite average. It only took 30mins max to slowly saunter the field.

This space has some great views over the East River. It looks like the primary activity is to sit on blankets and picnic. Sadly, we had neither, there were a few benches, but all were occupied when we were there.
It is a great open space and the opportunity to have public art out-of-doors is really wonderful.
They have some activities but not much when we were there. And there were a couple pieces under construction the afternoon we were there. We will try to get by on another visit.

Small free park with some open space and a few sculptures.
Arrived here at about 2pm on a nice Sunday and was able to get street parking about 2 blocks away.
A bunch of people laid out on the open space on beach/park towels or lawn chairs. Not too much else to do or see...unless they hold events there.

We stopped by right after visiting the Noguchi Museum, since it is right in front of the bldg. Nice breezy park with water views. when we visited, it was not crowded at all (weekday, around 4pm?) We sat under the trees (shades) and watched the river. Quite nice.

It feels like a large park on the river. Young kids can run around. Not that much sculpture to view. Portasans rather than bathrooms.

we can’t here and there was only one big sculpture and two sad sculptures. it was very hot too. not worth the walk here……..

Couple this with a visit the Noguchi Museum and a water taxi ride and you'll have a great day. The park was a bit sad and muddy when we visited in late March but that didn't stop lots of people for picnicking and enjoying the lovely early spring weather. Definitely worth a trip especially when coupled with a visit to the Noguchi Museum and/or MOMA PS1.

I went to Sophocles Sculpture Park after the Noguchi Museum. At the time of my visit (a Friday afternoon in October) the area resembled a construction site rather than a sculpture park. It all appeared to be a work in progress, except for a large pyramid structure by Jeffrey Gibson.
The park has a nice view of Manhattan and the East River; not enough benches overlooking the view.
Before going, check the website for the current or upcoming installations. As some reviewers have already mentioned, don’t go out of your way to see this park.

This is a neat little park to see if you’re already in the area. When I chose to go, it was between exhibitions, and you could tell one sculpture had been damaged and was being repaired (the pyramid pictured). The ground is poorly kept, and it’s pretty gritty and muddy, but that might be because of the stress caused my rotating exhibits. As previously mentioned, the exhibits rotate, and you should check and see if anything is even there before you go. There are two or three small permanent sculptures (pictured). Again, I would support local artists, but wouldn’t trek from Manhattan or Harlem or something. Maybe make it part of a day where you go out to one of the many ethnic eateries in queens, see the park, maybe visit the Pepsi sign along the water.
