Nice view, expensive parking, dire tea room.
Even by National Trust low bar in this area this one hit rock bottom.
Yes it’s a nice view but so is all of this coast. And it’s really easy to park up and do coast walks around North Devon. The cost of the carpark is expensive even by NT standards but the tea room was unorganised chaos with a really long wait for bland shrink wrapped meh.
I spent a week walking the coast paths around this area and I really wouldn’t bother with Baggy point again.
Stars given only come from the toilets and the fact that NT make some of the paths accessible making it a way for many to experience coastal path at all. But on the day I was there the only way from the carpark to the ‘accessible’ path was to squeeze around a tanker and step over the cess pit suction pipes so yeah…even that not so.

Fabulous views from the headland. Free parking for National Trust members. £7 otherwise. You can then walk down to Croyde Bay which is a surfers paradise.

Friday 03rd March 2023 Solo walk around National Trust Baggy Point peninsula at Croyde. Parked up at the National Trust Car Park at Sandleigh Tearooms. Simple enough to walk and though I can't include as a link if you google there is a simple map of the path around the peninsula. The initial part is straightforward from the said car park up to the point where there is signage detailing the peninsula's role in preparations for the D-Day landings. Once past the point it is less clear (clockwise) how you loop back to Croyde. At that point, you can see Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe beaches. I ended up crossing fields and what felt like a counterintuitive farmers' track to get back to Croyde/the National Trust car park. Once back it ended up being a 7 KLM or 100 min walk.

A rare non rainy day on holiday so we took the open top bus to Croyde and walked to Baggy point. The path is easy, with lovely views. It is possible to walk to Putsborough, but we chose to turn by the point and walk back along the higher path. It's a pity the gorse has not seemed to recover after falling victim to the bbq fire last summer, but the rest of the vegetation seems to be recovering well.
There's a nice National Trust tea garden just by the start of the path to Baggy point.

This was our final mini break of this summer; here in North Devon based in Ilfracombe. The previous evening’s indulgences needed blowing-away and what could be better than a sunny and breezy walk on the coast? In our opinion, backed-up by this experience, nothing!
We drove from our hotel to the National Trust carpark near Croyde Beach, south of the much larger Woolacombe Beach. We chose a shorter (but unfortunately very challenging) route using minor, mostly single-track, roads (B3343) with passing places being mostly in the wrong places! We eventually arrived, but for the return journey we used a longer, and safer, route avoiding the B3343 by using the A361 and Buckland Hill. Both routes will take you through Georgeham and Croyde, but the safer route will take you through Heddon Mill.
After we parked, (costs: £7 for non-NT members) we took advice from the NT volunteer at the carpark. He advised us that there is a good circular walking route that was well signposted. His recommendation was to turn right on leaving the carpark and walk up the moderately rising path direct to Baggy point. The alternative is to use a steeper northern path which is a bit rocky in places, so this path/track is easier when descending. All the route information is displayed on the NT information board at the entrance to the NT carpark (we took photos of this for reference). This “Waymarked Walk” route is approximately 2.5 miles. Take some bottled water and enjoy some really fabulous views.
The timing guide was 1.5 hours and we did it in 1.25 hours including stopping to take photos. It was a walk that was not too demanding and the views were often stunning (this included a view of a murky Lundy island 19 miles out into the channel).

Walks are easy but just be careful with young children, and anyone with vertigo! For lovers of nature at it's finest, but during school holidays and weekends can be a bit busy. The views and the wildlife are stunning.

Lovely walk with great views. Parking extortionate if you are not a NT member so beware! Worth it for us purely for the gorgeous views though.

Really nice place for a walk. It was very windy though and we were blown around a lot, the views were well worth it. National Trust charge a lot for parking £5 unless you're a member.

A steady reasonably easy walk along stunning coastline in North Devon.
Parking in main village and walk through past some great pop up sin the summer including Biffen's Kitchen at Ocean Pitch on the way through

We walked from the NT car park right up to the poll that represents one (only taller) that was used to practice getting people of boats. Nice walk, steep in a few places but not to bad. Amazing views and some wildlife while walking up there. Unfortunately there had been a wild fire the week before so not as much wildlife.

Hi. My daughter has just broken her ankle and is in a wheelchair for our forthcoming holiday. How far can we safely push her? Also, we have a dog. Are they OK off lead or is it right on the cliff edge? Cheers

I would support the responses already given. The pathway is bumpy in parts and I wouldn’t take our spaniels off lead!
