Visit either early morning or late evening

I visited the temple late in the evening after 8.30 pm on Sunday. The line was less compared to daytime . I would recommend staying in a hotel near the temple if you are planning again the next day early morning darshan . I went again for darshan at 5 am .Again not much rush . Managed to take darshan very peacefully.
Prasad you can get it by paying, it's not free . No need for any local panda if you are visiting early in the morning for darshan .

A Holy experience but with riders

Beautiful Temple with timeless beauty and legacy. Please beware of Pandas, they are mostly corrupt and won’t even allow to go near a diety statue in the many small temples in the Jagannath temple complex if you don’t handover large sums of money. You would be ridiculed or laughed at if you don’t pay up. Sad to say this a devout Hindu but this is what it is.

The temple remains crowded always, no need to fell into prey of any panda, just follow public line and you would be able to do darshan easily.
Be careful of the panda's.
there are bhog available outside and also within the temple premises. one can buy and have prasad. there's is no free prasad at Jagannath Temple.

The temple opens for darshan past 06:30 only, by that time there is a big queue.
Suggest to visit after the inital rush, so that there is no queue built up.
There will be a lot of pushing inside the temple, more in the sanctum santorum.Just move along the crowd.
No need to heed to any Pandas.The idols are very big so you wont miss them.
The right most diety in Lord Jaganth in black colour, middle deity is his sister Subhadra and on the left is his brother Balaraman.

The Vimal and Mahalakshmi temples are just behind.

The people are horrible to foreigners. You will be yelled at and told to leave. Hindu only, if you are foreign you cannot visit. The people who work at the temple will lie to you and tell you you can get in, only to walk through the lines and find out you are not welcome. Horrible experience throughout Puri, do not visit if you are a foreigner.

Corrupt Pandas rule this temple

The most corrupt temple I would say with no queue discipline, no timings for Arathi, absence of temple committee monitoring. Pandas openly indulge in corruption and they rule this place. Pandas dominance and mismanagement is very evident.i don't know in which Hindu temple Bhog or prasadam is given after 3pm.
South Indian temples are better managed.

A must visit for all Hindus!

A must visit place for any Hindu devotee. While it was too hot in the end of September, it is advisable to have a darshan of the Lord along with a "panda" especially if one is new to Puri. It was our first trip to Puri and memorable. Also try to have the early morning darshan as it may see less crowds.

rail station to tmple auto/cycle ricksaw 1oo fare /depost bag mobile chappal in shop cumpolsory. 630 am till 1155pm darsan alowed . closer and far darsan timings vary .aprox 9pm closest darsan possible .beware of priests .they take you for darsan and make you buy prasad box (not recomended) anand bazar prasad sold rice dal meal sweets kheer all . many more temples in compound and kalpvriksh too. shaktiith-bimla devi and ekadasi mata temple near each other ..

Unforgettable experience at Jagannath temple

I visited the temple with my old parents octogenarians. It was a bit of disaster, you can’t the god for even 10 seconds, no sanctity of queue, pushing punching and over stepping without any consideration inside the sanctum. Pandas want to extort money in every form, blessing with stick, Aarti, Prasad, holy water whatever you can think off. It breaches divinity, I went to pray and bow before the deity, let alone bow , didn’t even get a chance to see the deity without paying hefty amount to panda! I hope temple administration look at some of their peers in India learn to maintain some discipline and give all devotees a fair access to temple sanctum. Overall the temple architecture is simply marvellous and premise is maintained reasonable well.
