We were impressed

We had a walk from our hotel, Aysgarth Falls Hotel, and came to St Andrew's Churhc. It is an impressive building inside and out. Lovely stained glass windows and a sense of calm.

Go in its lovely inside and a sneaky way to the falls....

A lovely church dating back to 1400;s, theres a very old reed framework inside that you can light up which is true lovely. The local sheep keep the grass down in the graveyards so be careful with your dogs. And if you follow the path to the left inside the grounds of the church and go down a set of stairs you bypass a really steep bend on the road that you have to take to get to the falls.

Fabulous Jervaulx rood screen.

This church is worthy of a visit for the Jervaulx rood screen alone. However, there were many other features of this lovely church which were notable, especially the war casualties remembraces. Touching and humbling.

Well worth a visit on the way down to the falls. Also cuts out the very steep climb! The rood screen is amazing, make sure you press the light to see it better.

St.Andrew's church is situated in a beautiful part of upper Wensleydale next to the river Ure.The church is impressive and the location stunning.Inside the church are to be found high quality Victorian stained glass windows but you must be sure to see the stunning Jervaulx Screen and vicar's stall dating from c1500 and the stone redos copy of Da Vinci's Last Supper.
They also had several drawings from children about the last war soldiers and if you take the time to read them they are very moving for such youngsters.,Red poppies well display, nice to see that some community still respect our arm forces. The feel of this church is very welcoming and the grave yard worth a visit with so many very very very old graves. WORTH A VISIT
