The weather was cold,foggy and dry. We went to see the illuminations
Amazing evening and breathe taking to say the least. The trees were illuminated and the music playing was wonderful. Totally spell binding even for 2 little boys that were in our group. All the staff were amazing and friendly and the whole evening was out of this world. One of the most amazing things we have seen and could have stayed there all evening. Coffee and snacks were welcoming and well presented.

The illuminated gardens have even surpassed last year’s wonderful display. The lighting provided a new dimension to the already gorgeous gardens. Music added another charming feature. It was well worth visiting, congratulations should go the whole team responsible for making such an enjoyable and memorable evening. Thank you.

It is probably one of the best-maintained gardens with a collection of plants not normally found in this locality . It is easy to walk around in muddy conditions but the viewing area can be slippy and closed off .Nice plantation style cafe

With almost every visit there are subtle improvements to the glorious planting. The whole garden provides interest and wonder at every turn. Currently many areas are very colourful. The lady at the ticket office makes you feel so welcome; a real treasure for the garden.

we were later than planned due to traffic conditions and seemed unwanted by staff. W were given short thrift by staff and barely got to use the toilet before the restaurant closed after our ideal on the motorway. we hurried around the gardens with a difficult to read map chased by horrendous warning sirens to leave and vacate before closing of the car park. we felt unwelcome!

We were blown away by our visit to these wonderful gardens. We could have spent hours following the different paths with something new around every corner. There was plenty of colour, even in September. I loved the Alice in Wonderland sculptures. The view of the coast was well worth the climb. I was particularly impressed by the accessibility of the gardens for wheelchair users. A lovely cafe and very healthy plants for sale. I wish we lived closer so that we could visit in all seasons.

Got the combined ticket with Swannery. Lovely places. Vast range of plants with signed information and map to follow giving more info. Very well kept.

Good value for money, we used some Tesco vouchers and paid the extra. Absolutely stunning gardens and fantastic views from the viewpoint. Enjoyed sausage rolls, sandwich and cake in the cafe. Very dog friendly and cool for your furry friend on a hot summer day.

I want to take the family to visit the gardens next weekend (March). Is there still plenty of flowers/plants to see out of the spring/summer season?

The garden is looking very colourful at the moment with the magnificent pink flowered Magnolia Campbellii taking centre stage. Cherry blossom and French Lavender are in bloom, along with the usual spring blooms of Daffodil, fragrant Daphne, Camelias and early rhododendron. Recent work in the garden to replant and prune have opened up vistas not seen for many years.

Yes the gardens have a wheelchair friendly route it doesn't include all of the gardens but gives a good selection of the shrubs and trees on show. There are also plenty of seats where you can sit and enjoy the view.

Hi I am visiting Weymouth for the 1st time. I will be visiting with my 7 and 3 year old daughter. What attraction from the three (swannery, subtropical gardens and children’s farm) would you say would be the most practical and enjoyable for children without them getting bored?

Very dog-friendly. On lead at all times. Poo bins available. Even allowed in cafe, where they provide dog biscuits. Lovely place to visit with dog.

It depends on whether you are into photography and flowers/plants like me. I would say mid-summer although I was there a couple of weeks ago and managed some good shots. It is very tranquil and that is what I really enjoy about it, the fact it is not mobbed. Enjoy from spring to November.
