LOCATION AND ACCESS
The drive is beautiful and Abbotsbury is a lovely village with tea rooms and lovely old pubs
The walk is around 400 metres from the entrance to the swannery itself but you can drive down if you have mobility issues. Its then very flat and disabled friendly throughout
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Small gift shop, a few interactive areas and random shipping and war artefacts plus toilet facilities at the entrance area only, although there are disabled toilets half way to the swannery
A children’s park is a nice touch to keep them occupied as is a small cinema style room where they tell you about it all
FOOD AND DRINK
A small well priced cafe and the gift shop with fudge and jams etc is on offer

Nowhere like it . Lots of swans and even in late October some black swans have chicks. It is an experience to see areal live swannery and education al for children

Far too expensive for a group of over 70s. We couldn’t afford £12.50 each sadly so we passed on it. Have been before so rather shocked by price this time.

A great place to visit do not miss it if in the area. Enjoyed the maze which was fun. A well cared for establishment and lovely to see the swans looked after. Pleasant and helpful ladies in the entrance area.

A really beautiful place to visit and the weather was brilliant. It’s amazing to see so many swans together plus the individual pools where parent swans are with their cygnets, some of which were nearly adults. We were there at feeding time and the swans start to congregate together in one huge mass just incredible. Members of the public are invited to help feed the swans, especially children but adults as well. We also saw some ducks and geese flying over and landing. Loved it here.

Amazing place, lovely scenery and a fantastic experience. Fed the swans and it was great. Lovely maze, even though we got lost and didn't make it to the egg. Had a go on the go-carts as my inner 12yr old couldn't resist. Got the tickets for the tropical gardens too. Would definitely visit again.

We came here not really knowing what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. There were more swans than we have ever seen in our lives and it was lovely to see the signets. We even got the opportunity to help feed the swans which was unexpected but good fun. Personally, I don’t feel you need more than a morning or afternoon here but still worth a trip.

We visited mid August for my birthday. It’s so lovely to see so many swans and cygnets. Fascinating demonstration where we got to see swans close up. It’s a lovely tranquil spot to visit, i would highly recommend.

Fantastic place to spend a couple of hours. Really interesting demonstration on ringing the birds. We learnt so much about the Swannery and its history. Great for families or adults.

Spent a lovely sunny afternoon. Nice flat walk around the area seeing all the swans and cygnets even watched a visiting Swan getting ringed. Not much cover so glad it was a sunny day.
Disabled parking close to the swans so easy access.
Get up very close to swans and geese.
Enjoyed the willow maze and even had a go and the go carts.

How far to walk from the X53 bus in Abbotsbury?

No idea where the X53 bus stops. But to get from Abbotsbury Village Centre to the entrance to the Swannery would be a good 30 minute walk down a winding country lane. We drove there.. Hope that's a help

Hi I am visiting Weymouth for the 1st time. I will be visiting with my 7 and 3 year old daughter. What attraction from the three (swannery, subtropical gardens and children’s farm) would you say would be the most practical and enjoyable for children without them getting bored?

Probably children's farm, and then the Swannery. Gardens beautiful, but probably boring for youngsters
Is it possible to visit the Swannery and the Botanical Gardens in the same day? Is the Swannery a place you spend all day or just several hours? Thank you :)

What type of food are the swans fed .We have three swans on our local river which is polluted and short of natural food . We know bread is not good to feed them but it's what most people feed them...Have you any suggestions as what better food we could offer them.?

RSPB can give advice. phone the swannery or look online? Vegetables, potatoes and grain are recommended I think.
