Fantastic local museum, has a new exhibition - working model of Dollar Railway Station and Mine. Also an exhibition on local shops. Child friendly with dolls house, toys and granny’s kitchen. Really worth a visit. Volunteer staff friendly and helpful.

Very interesting with all of the information and exhibits there. Giving you a history of Dollar. This was free to enter but donations are greatly received. Glad I popped in.

Now that the Pandemic is on the wane, the Museum has re-opened. It's a friendly place and they have some new material on display including a Time-Line, local Witchcraft, some local coal mining artefacts and, what I gather is very popular, a working model of the local Railway Station with a train that shunts coal carriages from the station towards the local mine and back. This is a model of how things were in Dollar about 1960. There are good arrangements for safety - hand sanitiser, masks and contact details - and they are open on Saturdays from 11-1 and 2-4.30, and on Sundays from 2-4.30. The volunteer staff are always very helpful and friendly. Note, however, that the toilet is closed!

I recently visited Dollar Museum with my 2 children (8 and 5) and was pleasantly surprised by what we found. A friendly, buzzing museum, professionally set out to appeal to all ages. We got stuck into a great quiz, identifying household objects from the 1900s - the kids loved it and to our surprise were awarded with stunning badges. There's a very interesting "granny's kitchen" - again set out in an appealing way. To my children's delight they then found a dolls house and toy box with old toys and games inviting children to play with them!! Upstairs is dedicated to deeper fact finding and research with an interesting display about the Japanese Garden. The museum had a pleasant buzz as locals and visitors popped in. We all were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed our visit. Top marks!!

This is a small but very interesting local museum with its focus and artifacts on the history and origins of the village of Dollar and surrounds in Clackmannanshire. Entrance is free - but there is a box for donations. A number of items are for sale. Volunteer staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Went to see the 2019 exhibition which is on the the Housing Developments in Dollar from 1918-2018. Interesting, with maps, photographs, press cuttings and stories. There is also a display for children with a competition.
There are also permanent exhibitions on the Devon Valley Railway, Japanese Gardens and more. The main display area is on the ground floor, and includes a re-constructed "Granny's Kitchen". There is a research room/archive on the first floor. The museum makes an effort to involve children, with materials for them, the granny's kitchen, and a display/competition this year. Only open Saturdays and Sundays from Easter to December.

The new exhibition is so interesting, it reflects the life of Adam Robson, a man of many talents. There are also other permanent exhibitions: the Devon Valley Railway , Japanese Gardens and more...

On the Glen, it is in a very picturesque area. Inside, there are nice artifacts with a real Scottish feel. Follow the road signs from the main road and roads a bit narrow and bendy.

Very interesting and they've even made an effort for young children. A lot on local history - going back to thousands of years.
