Great park, well managed. I feel lucky to have this on my door step. Fallen tree trunks are carved into detailed dragon heads and lots of informative signage about nature all around. Some rewinding too, what’s not to love?

this is a lovely place to visit. The cafe is nice and the walks are varied. They have started charging for parking but it's only £1 for two hours and is well worth that.

Porthkerry Country Park makes a fantastic day out for everyone. It really is a hidden gem close to Barry Island with a pebble beach, lots of green space, woodland walks and a great children's playground. There are fantastic views and a cafe to enjoy drinks and snacks. In addition to the cafe there are lots of places to enjoy a picnic. If going for the day with children I would suggest taking a frisbee, kite, football or other outside games to make the most of the great outdoors.

Such a lovely place and amazing it's so close to the crazy seaside resort of Barry island. You've acres of woodland and trails in the wood, a play area for little ones and a beach. Plus, a tea room and toilets, parking was cheap for the day. Lovely views and disused viaduct. Take a kite, football, frisbee, lots of open space to run and play. Such a nice day. Kids will love jumping streams, climbing trees etc. Real gem and well looked after by park rangers too.

We come here very often. We usually go for a long walk in the woods, walk along the beach, dip our feet in the sea, walk back, have a picnic and an ice cream then explore some more. It is never ending fun for all of the family. We also love how dog-friendly it is as well with dog bowls and ice cream suitable for dogs everywhere

Visited Porthkerry last weekend on a sunny and hot day. Not been before and had wanted to go for ages. It is such a lovely place. Nice cobbly beach, woodlands, plenty of green space and some nice walks. Lovely park for the kids, a cafe and some public toilets (that were pretty clean and tidy). It was busy but we managed to find a spot to park (£2.50 cash only to park). Lots of families set up camp for the day with tents, bbqs, picnics etc. Really lovely place to chill or have a nice walk. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

We had a fantastic day at Porthkerry Country Park. Within the park there are ponds and streams, woodland walks, an amazing children's play area, a pebble beach, a cafe and open fields. There is fantastic scenery, trees and wildlife, and the park is a great location for a picnic. This is a great day out, especially as the park is so peaceful, clean and well maintained

What an amazing park, that seemed to have everything: wood sculptures, an amazing variety of stunning trees, a viaduct, that you can walk up to and see trains travelling along, a beautiful cafe that seemed very popular, flat mown areas for walking, woods, streams and a boardwalk down to a pebble beach. We stood looking at the viaduct and noticed acorns dropping onto our heads. A ranger walked by and informed us that the acorns were being thrown at us by a group of territorial squirrels! She stated that if we watched for long enough we would see the squirrels throwing acorns at us from the 2 huge majestic oak trees. We only saw one of the squirrel, which we named "Asbo". We also named the other elusive two " Delinquent" & "Thug"

how much is car park and how far from car park to BBQ arfea

The car parking is free on weekdays and only a few £s on summer weekends. The BBQ grills are spaced around the field, the nearest is only 100yds from the car park

Not far at all, if you’re in the car park near the toilets and cafe... probably a few mins. If you’re on the over flow car park on the field... closer to 10 mins if you’re carrying stuff :)

Hi Charlie - there are no camping facilities they are all static owner caravans. I can highly recommend Acorn Camping in Llantwit Major - fantastic facilities.

there is a cycle track going from the park (by the cafe and car park) under the viaduct, that goes all the way to Rhoose.
