The valley is very deep and the goosenecks are dramatic. We walked the trail along the rim and enjoyed the park as a place to see impressive scenery and stretch our legs. It's very impressive and doesn't require a long stay or a long trip off the highway if traveling through the area. Very nice!

Just a small booth with a person collecting $5. Just parked my car and got out to take a look. There are port a johns there, but nothing else but the view. But, the view is well worth it! So cool to see how this has been carved out like it is. It's worth the 5 bucks to stop.

Wow! Great park with spectacular views. A true hidden gem that everyone should visit if they're visiting Monument Valley. Easy in and out, thought pads are a little bumpy and the parking lot is gravel. Much easier to pay cash to enter as their credit card swiper often does not work. The views of the San Juan River are truly incredible.

very disappointing. Water is low and terrain is dull In Bighorn Canyon, WY and Horseshoe Bend south of Paige, UT there are river bends that are much more dramatic and beautiful

Gooseneck State Park was beautiful. We Boondocked for one night. We had planned to stay longer, but the 95° temperatures during the day and only down to 60 at night made it too hot for us.
It was definitely worth the trip, however. The sunrise and sunsets were spectacular.
We were a little disappointed in the night skies designation because there were about 12 campers Boondocking up there as well and several of them kept their lights on at night. One even had a string of lights…..🤷🏻♀️
Anyway, we did get to see a bit of the Milky Way and it was very cool to be on the edge of the cliff looking down at the San Juan river
And did the drives to Moki dug way, Muley Point and valley of the gods.

We enjoyed the trip to the park. The canyon is amazing to see. I would not go back just to view it again. If I was looking for a dark sky camper trip, it would be an amazing place to do so.

We arrived very early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise
The view is unique and recommended. The trail is in very good condition
I also liked that you could pay the Park Entrance via QR code
Ambience: wonderful
Price / performance: USD 5 / cart, absolutely fair

This is a meandering river located about 30 minutes from Monument Valley.
It's a hidden gem where you can enjoy scenery that rivals Horseshoe Bend without the hustle and bustle of tourists.
In short, this is a spot where you can fully experience the grandeur of nature.

The photos do not do this place justice. But for $5 you can park up and blow you mind with some stunning geology. Also good toilets, wi-fi, and plenty of shade to sit and have a picnic, which is what we did. I think there might even be options to RV camp here. I cannot emphasise how good this stop was and that this is so underrated with the likes of the more famous Monument Valley nearby. It is also close to Valley of the Gods and Mexican Hat so could be a double or triple bill when in the area. Loved it and would come back for another look as long as my wife has made some more nice beef and pickle rolls to enjoy the stunning views with.

Can you see a complete loop that the river makes from this park? Most of the photos show an edge blocking the view down to the river.

We didn't go to every vantage point, but from the main ones, you mostly cannot see the river straight below you unless you walk out to a further ledge. Probably not advisable, but you can tell from the wear that some people do that.

is it worth it to go see the overlook to Gooseneck State Park and the San Juan river? anything else to do in the area? thanks
2015년 8월 2일 작성
There is nothing else to do at Goosenecks. You can drive in and out in 10 minutes. So, is the $5 fee worth the time for maybe a picture? Go to Valley of the Gods. It is like a mini monument valley and you don't have to pay to enter because it is managed by the bureau of land management. It is beautiful. Monument Valley is further south and is under the control of the Navajo Nation--it is not a national park. You must pay a fee to enter and you must pay additional fees for guides if you want to see anything other than the 17 mile scenic loop. North off 95 and 275 is Natural Bridges National Monument. It offers beautiful views and trails to each of the bridges as well as a complete connecting trail to all the bridges.
Have a good trip.
