We traveled to King Salmon to see the walrus and the bears but hearing reports of good King Salmon fishing we decided to stay another day. We were lucky to get a day on the river with Jeff , one of the owners of Frigate Adventure Travel.
We had a ball. Jeff has been guiding on the river for years and he put us onto some great fish. In a day fishing we caught and released almost 20 kings for two people. The boat was very well equipped, Jeff showed us some very innovative tackle that we have never seen before and we caught a fish even while anchored to have lunch😃
We decided to keep a fish for dinner and Jeff got it ready for transport to Anchorage.
Thoroughly recommended.

My wife and I really enjoyed fishing with Frigate Adventure on the Naknek river in King Salmon, AK. Our guide, Geoff, was very knowledgeable about the area, salmon fishing, and willing to share his information. We spent two days on the river and on both days, Geoff had the boat and a variety of rods ready to go and provided lunch and snacks.
The first of two days was a tough day on the river with many boats out there not coming up with much of anything. Geoff was trying a variety of techniques. Near day's end we implemented one of the last strategies and began casting with a spin cast reel perpendicular to the river current. Geoff provided guidance as to where to cast and how to retrieve the line. Wasn't much longer and we hooked our first King with Geoff providing advice on how to battle a large fish on light tackle. We even stayed out on the river longer than usual to try and land additional fish.
Before we concluded the day, Geoff was checking his data and suggested an optimal time to start the next morning. Following his advice, we departed as suggested and he brought us to the spot his studies indicated would be optimal for that particular day at that specific time. The experience came through and several more kings were landed in short order. After reviewing river conditions, we were then brought to a spot for sockeye fishing. Again, after some advice from Geoff, my wife and I were catching sockeye for the first time in our lives until we limited out.
At the end of each day, the fish were also processed and ready for shipping.
All in all a great experience.
