Queensboro Bridge is one of the many ways to get onto the Island of Manhattan. It will take you from 2nd Avenue to Queens and is quite a busy bridge. As well as cars and trucks being able to use the bridge pedestrians and cyclists also have a designated thoroughfare.
One of the best ways to see the bridge is to ride the cable car to Roosevelt Island. This runs alongside the bridge and you get some great views of the bridge and cross the East River.
The bridge crosses Roosevelt Island but there is no direct access to the bridge from the island. You can get some great pix of the bridge from this island and also from Manhattan itself.
A magnificent piece of engineering!

Ponte affascinante sull’East River, terminato a inizio novecento per collegare Manhattan a Long Island passando per l’isola di Roosevelt. Celebre agli appassionati di corsa perché è proprio su questo ponte che passa la Maratona di New York, ma anche agli amanti del cinema perché è immortalato in tanti film. I modi migliori per ammirarlo sono dal Queensbridge Park e dalla Roosevelt Island Tramway, l’unica e panoramica funivia della città.

The Queensboro Bridge is an ideal option when crossing the East River from Queens. From the Long Island Expressway, you must navigate the local streets to Queensboro Plaza in LIC. There are two levels which alleviates traffic. Best part is there is no toll!
In the last couple of years, the bridge was renamed "The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge". Ed Koch was the mayor of NYC nearly 40 years ago. I had the pleasure of meeting him 12 years. He is a very polite, funny man.

We could see this bridge from our hotel room in Long Island City so naturally wanted to walk over it.

Is a really lovely bridge to walk over with a bike lane used by e scooters too

Queensboro Bridge is a beautiful structure. This time we walked over the bridge. It’s actually a big dangerous as there are bikes and motor cycles / battery powered bikes flying along and don’t give walkers any room. Didn’t like it overall.

The Queensborough Bridge and it’s tramway is an iconic structure. It’s clunky and in many ways could be considered ugly. I think it’s great!

The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, (Queensboro Bridge for short), is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City. It was completed in 1909 and it connects the neighborhood of Long Island City in the borough of Queens with the Upper East Side in Manhattan, passing over Roosevelt Island. The bridge is also known as the 59th Street Bridge because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Streets. The bridge's ceremonial grand opening was held on 12th June 1909 and at the time it was the 4th longest bridge in the world. A fabulous way to see the bridge 'up close' is to take a trip on the Roosevelt Island Tramway, a cable car that runs parallel to the bridge from Manhattan to RI. The total length of the bridge between anchorages is 1,135m (3,724 ft).
