You will never believe how many people walk every day in the NYC subway without knowing what they miss not looking around to see pieces of art hanged on the walls of the subway. That’s the whole point at this great your!

I loved the tour of NYC subway art, Darryl is a knowledgeable and personable guide and I learned lots! Great intro to NYC history and also a treat for art lovers. Highly recommend.

I've done the tour twice now. After the first time, I wanted to share it because it's such a fun and different and relatively inexpensive way to see NYC. Darryl had added new stations/art, but honestly it was great to hear again about the stuff from the previous tour (you forget details because it can move fast) and watch my friends' faces as they listened. Darryl is amazing; he really has an encyclopedic knowledge of the subway system and the art installations. It's not just art on the walls; Darryl points out you've missed a ton of stuff right there in the 42nd Street Station. I visit NYC regularly and have passed this art hundreds of times without realizing the history or story. It's a good amount of walking, but that's what I expect (and appreciate) when in NYC. This is something you will do that will stay with you and is really off the beaten path of things to do in NYC. My friends loved it.

Daryl was extremely informative and knowledgeable as he navigated us through subways and tunnels and trains. We were shown things we had never noticed before and lived all the quirky info he shared with us. There is a fair bit of walking and many steps.... but worth every minute. Thanks Daryl.

We decided on a last minute tour and we were not disappointed. Darryl was knowledgeable, fast paced and answered questions readily. It was amazing to see the locals stop and listen to what he was saying about the art work the rush past everyday. I highly recommend!

Fantastic tour, provides the opportunity to see an aspect of NYC that could easily be missed, learn about the background of each piece of art and the history of subway art. The guide is very knowledgable and presents the art in an interesting way.

From the moment we descended the stairs from the warm summer sun into the warm summer subway tunnel, Darryl pointed out highlights of the art that lines the walls and fills the halls of the NY Subway system. I've walked past many of these gems hundreds of times without seeing them - from Lisa Dinhofer's apt glass mosaic Losing My Marbles within the Port Authority Station, to the 100-plus bronze statue commentary on capitalism at 14th Street, to the Union Square Project which employs red metal frames to highlight vintage tile displays and chunks of old station wall. There is the famous Lichtenstein and a not-so-famous anonymous homage to victims of 9/11 in the form of white labels with typed names of every individual who died that day. A wilted bouquet of flowers in a glass vase sat undisturbed at a memorial to two policemen. A birthday perhaps? One of the policemen was only 26.
I highly recommend this tour by the highly personable and knowledgeable native New Yorker. He whisks you around from subway line to subway line, knows just where to stand to get the best views, and unveils these artistic treasures that have been there all along in plain sight but that you may have never noticed.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Answered all
My questions clearly and articulately. Best part was the fact that I had the guide all to myself. Others in the tour canceled as it was a hot day and the subway tends to get hot but the train cars were nice and cool.
Not only did I see some amazing art works but I learned a lot about riding the MTA in NYC. I have visited NYC many times but never went on the MTA. Two thumbs way up for my tour guide I would take the tour again it was that good. A must when visiting New York City.

Took this tour earlier this month w/ my teenage son. We found the art interesting. The guide, however, left much to be desired. I've taken many tours over the years and Darrell is the worst guide I've ever had. He didn't engage with our group at all -- never even asked our names or where we were from! When someone occasionally asked him a question, he'd give a sarcastic response such as "why do you need to know that?" He is clearly knowledgeable about the art so I'll give him that. Having an engaged, interested, lively tour guide makes all the difference in one's enjoyment of the tour, and that was not the case here. I'd recommend this tour for the artwork only.

Mysteriosuly I just saw this! Very sorry! The tour meets at and leaves from McDonald's at 51st and Broadway in Manhattan and end in Times Square.
