We came with huge expectations considering the great reviews Komnata has received.
The setting is very well crafted and immersive. The puzzles are creative (and we have been to quite a few escape rooms by now).
However, in the end we left with a deep sense of frustration. Not because we didn't escape, but because of the reasons that lead to that: We don't recommend this particular room (St. Angelo's Castle) if you are color-blind. If so, you are likely to just get stuck at some point, as we have, wasting all your time to no avail. The given clues are pre-recorded with no apparent flexibility on the keymaster's behalf, so they will just add to the general frustration.

We went on one of the first days that Komnata re-opened. The customer service was easy to reach when we called in with questions about our booking. Our keymaster was welcoming and laid back. I’ve done maybe 5 escape rooms over the past few years, and thought these were well-designed puzzles. Will be back with more friends!

We've done almost 50 rooms. Komnata does a very nice job, not too many locks, interesting puzzles, etc.
We appreciated the private option available for some of the rooms as to avoid playing with strangers.
We will definitely do more of their rooms.

This is the third escape room my husband and I have done, but first time doing it with Komnata Quest. We went with two people who had never done an escape room before. We did the Chinese Jewelry Box and for the most part, it was set up pretty well and we had a lot of fun. However, we did have some comments.
In the other to escape rooms my husband and I had done, there was a TV screen that gave us the "story," and later gave us the clues. Why was this important, well, at the beginning, we couldn't understand the story at all. It was said over a loud speaker, and even though all four of us are used to making out announcements on the subway, this was close to impossible to understand. We weren't sure if we were missing clues in the story.
Another comment was that we were told initially not to use force. If we had to force it, it wasn't for us - which makes sense... except one last clue was stuck in something and Kyle (our game master) eventually had to intervene to tell us we needed to force it. I was the one trying to get to the clue, and I specially didn't force it, because I thought I wasn't supposed to.
I did think the room was well detailed, and well set up. I did like that there was unlimited clues (in past games we've been limited). I have mixed feelings about not knowing how much time we have left. We've been able to know in the past, however, we also had limited amount of clues - so we used the time to space them out. As we had unlimited clues, we didn't need to. I did felt like the lack of time kept some of the pressure off for us to focus on the clues.
We did make it out (Yay!), and we all agreed we would not only do this again, but go back to Komnata Quest again. It doesn't hurt that we get a discount, which gives us an even bigger incentive to go back.

We came here after completing all of the Komnata Manhattan rooms (which are AMAZING) and weren't disappointed. We started at the 104 West Street location and did Doctor Frankenstein and Hex of the Chinese Jewelry Box, then moved on to the 67 West Street location for Joker's Cafe and Bullets and Broken Hearts. These rooms are the BEST in NYC, hands down - and we've done dozens. Also, shout out to Chris at 67 West - he was one of the best game masters we've worked with!

One of the more unique Escape rooms I've ever done. The puzzles were not mind blowing or super difficult but the atmosphere was amazing. Great sound effects, creepy visuals, tons of times where you go "do I reeeeeeally want to 'risk my life/sanity/health' to solve the this room. The set up is great and everything is well-thought out. Will definitely return for the other rooms
