Rod and Margy are such warm people and it was a real pleasure to see the pottery studio and wander around their beautiful piece of land. I love my new little coffee beaker. Well worth the visit if you're in the area.

A visit at the Fern Flat Pottery is a must do, if you are in the vicinity of Kaitaia! Marguerite and Rod Davis are inspirational artists and lovely humans with a big heart for nature and art. Their terracotta work is amazing! A must do for all art lovers!

Staying in Cable Bay/Taipa, Fern Flat was only a short out of the way drive. This is a lovely home with an adjacent pottery business. I'm not a pottery-seeker, but this place was certainly worth the visit. So many varied pieces of art rather than just coffee mugs, plates and bowls. It's small, but with many different varieties of artwork, you can find something that fits your style. Friends along with us went home with nearly $200 of various works.

Hubby and I first visited and purchased from here about 13 years ago. We made the drive up again and didn’t regret it! Even more fantastic pottery to choose from. Love the NZ and Pacifica themes. If no one is there you can leave cash or take bank account info. We paid some cash and then popped the remainder through by internet banking. Fantastic artwork- you won’t regret the trip!!

This place is a hidden gem that deserves more credit and recognition than it already has! Great part of your far north itinerary- take a dive into fern flats swim hole before hitting up this place further down the road, amazing pottery work among magical lush greenery. Nobody was home so we chose what we liked and took an internet banking slip home to pay them later via internet banking. Completely built on trust and thoroughly worth the visit!

Fern Flat is so cool and you can get pottery and go swimming and then have a picnic and then go back home a thing about why that was so cool.

What a beautiful part of NZ, with lovely pottery. A meandering drive, past lush pastures, and little glimpses of creeks - so peaceful and relaxing. No one was home when we visited, but my email in advance had warned me of this. We bought some love works, total $95nzd - I was a little worried about leaving cash, but obviously the owner got it as I received a lovely email of thanks the next day. Not only talented, but trusting. We love our pieces, one of which graces our garden back in Sydney.

I love the pottery here. It's earthy natural themes and beautiful shapes. Excellent for wall hangings too.

Its a long drive to get to this amazing peaceful place, but well worth the visit. Many man pieces of pottery which in a town or city would be much more expensive and much less of. Gravel road so take your time, stop and watch locals swimming in lovely river waterfall. Also back on tarseal stop at Bush Fairy Dairy for an experience and just along the road Earth House worth a look. Such a beautiful peaceful part of NZ
