First time in Grizedale, and we chose the white route (can’t remember the name), and did it anti-clockwise. It was fine for a while, then, as you climb higher, you go through the tree harvesting area, and it’s all fairly ugly and industrial for quite some distance, either side of the “summit” of the trail. The descent was, after the initial few hundred yards, more of what you’d expect from a woodland trail, being much narrower. Careful where you put your feet around the exposed tree roots. Very steep as you near the finishing straight. Sculptures were ok, although some were damaged. Missed the one I’d hoped to see; guessing that was on one of the other trails. Signage was generally ok (coloured bands on posts), although at a couple of junctions, we kind of guessed, and were relieved to see a white banded post further along. Good facilities in and around the visitor centre. Average overall though. Our 4-miler (approx), took a leisurely 2 hours. A good workout, but not very pretty.

We often walk in Grizedale but this was the first time on the Bogle Crag walk. The car park will hold a few cars and when we were there the machine was out of order. We did an anti-clockwise circuit passing a couple of sculptures. It has steep bits and the first half was mainly uphill. We noticed lots of bike tracks on the paths but didn’t see any bikes but watch out. Nice views now and then.

I traveled from the US to see the sculptures at this location. Majority of the sculptures were environmental sculptures designed to blend into the landscape and over time return into the landscape. This, I was excited to see. My disappointment was hiking over the several trails, I saw few of the sculptures they had listed. Many I saw were damaged from storms and not repaired. The trail had wonderful views and worth the hike. Just be prepared, some of the trails are long and there are no restrooms or water available on the trails.

Took the family to Grizedale forest. Visited a few years ago and the children loved walking the trails and looking for the sculptures. There seems very few left and the trail walks appeared to be much shorter. Not sure what has happened. Would not recommend this activity now. It used to be very tranquil. Now all you hear are squeals and shouting from the zip wires. Such a shame!

Grizedale Forest used to be a walker's paradise - miles of marked trails where you could wander in peace and quiet, taking in the views and atmosphere and admire the many sculptures. Now the sculptures are mostly gone (a few, more hardy ones can still be found, like treasure in the forest), but you have to head for the more remote areas to get any peace, as the centre is a noisy irritation of "Go Apers" and mountain bikers (often failing to stay on the marked bike trails).

We took the short walk with the bugee. It was ok but a bit disjointed. The children enjoyed the whind up trees and the little house. Only real complaint the toilets are not near the car park

Not many good views other than the trees and rocks. A few sculptures can be found along the way & there is a shorter version of this walk if you wish to take the quickee route. The longer route didn't feel too long but some of the paths were tricky to walk along. Altogether, a pleasant walk through a forest setting that will take around a couple of hours.

The Bogle Crag Trail is in the Grizedale Forest Park.It is around 3 miles long and is not an easy walk.It is not as popular as other Lakeland walks, nor are you rewarded with the wonderful views that a walk around Ullswater or Derwent water produces. It goes through forests, which have strange alien sculptures and there is a certain spookiness about the surrounding silence and sounds. We have been there two or three times over the last few years and have never encountered too many people. On one occasion, we didn't meet anyone, either going up or coming down, while on our walk!

You need sturdy shoes and be relatively fit.Take water and a packed lunch and soak in the mood of the forest.
