The walls of Astorga were built during the Roman imperial period, and have undergone various tinkering in Roman and medieval times, until the War of Independence against Napoleon, during which time it was damaged by artillery.
The walls constitute a beautiful frame of the historic center of the city and offer the possibility of obtaining a magnificent photo from outside along with the image of the cathedral and the episcopal palace.
The walled perimeter measures just over two kilometers and there are several access points, although we retain the doors that allowed it. Apart from the aesthetic beauty, which is best perceived from outside the historic center, the walls allow you to have good views of the surroundings of Astorga.
They are one more element of the attraction of taking a walk in a city with as much historical wealth as Astorga.

Ancient Roman Walls are walls, which surrounds a part of the old town, specially near the Cathedral, in Astorga, a town in León Region, in the North of Spain. We saw walls, when we went to the Modernist Palace of Gaudí and the Cathedral. Then , you can see the wall and enter with the Roman Gate. Nice.

Están muy bien conservadas y realzan el entorno al tiempo que se enriquece su contemplación cuando se la observa con el conjunto artístico. Al pie de las mismas hay un aparcamiento muy útil para visitantes de la ciudad, desde el que se las observa muy bien. También son interesantes desde los jardines del palacio de Gaudí.

Facile ammirarle se parcheggiate nel Parking Astorga per recarvi poi alla Cattedrale e al Palazzo Gaudi'.Le affiancherete per meta' del tragitto e poi le ripotrete vedere guardando giu' dal giardino del Palazzo Episcopale.

La panorámica de la Catedral y del palacio episcopal visto desde abajo de las murallas es verdaderamente hermosa. Los restos de muralla dice mucho de la importancia que tuvo la ciudad en tiempos romanos.
Me preocupó que la única forma de pasear sobre las murallas sea accediendo y pagando la entrada al palacio episcopal.
